UPDATE: October 26, 2017
Effective December 17, 2017 the SPG partnership with Uber will come to an end.
Members who have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017.
If the stay overlaps with the program end date, you will still earn 2 starpoints per USD 1 spent on Uber rides taken during your stay. Any rides taken after 11:59 on December 17, 2017 even if taken during a stay that originated on or before December 17, 2014 will not earn starpoints on that uber ride.

Uber Partnership Update
With your SPG and Uber accounts linked and you have met a requirement of ONE qualifying stay in the current calendar year, SPG members will earn 1 point per dollar spent with Uber on every day rides. For rides during stays, SPG members will earn 2 points per dollar spent on Uber (Preferred), 3 points per (Gold or Platinum), or 4 points per (Plat75).
There is a maximum of $10,000 in points-earning spend with Uber per calendar year. This means that you could have up to 40,000 SPG points with this promotion (if you were a Plat75 and only used Uber while on SPG stays and maxed out $10,000 in Uber services).

Really excited for this - IF I can ever get my darn account linked!
Sent SPGChampion a message last night but I'd love to know what is going on with their DB that it can't accept a perfect match.
I even just edited my SPG to be lowercase just like Uber and STILL no joy.
It's like I won't even want to use my Uber account now until this gets worked out because it would just be missed Starpoint opportunity!

I did notice this morning that on the 'Account Overview' tab under Manage My Account on spg.com - i now have a 'Uber Member' tag next to where it says I'm an SPG Credit Card member.
I also took a ride about 22 hours after i linked my account (linked wed morning at 7 am EST and rode at 5 am EST on thurs) - so hopefully the batch process ran between those times and i get the points to post (they have not yet).

I use Uber almost every day, so expect to quickly hit $10K. I think this is a great partnership- akin to how some limo companies will give you miles for the rides.
A couple of things are possibilities for improvement:
1. They should put a cap of 40,000 points on earning (or limit it by tier). Instead it is limited to $10K, but you don't get to choose which uber rides to take the credit for. In other words, I'll hit $10k of general uber spend well before I hit $10k of uber spend from Starwood hotels. An alternative would be to replace spending at starwood once you hit the max, so that if I already hit my $10K in general uber spend, but continue to stay at starwood and use uber (the intention) beyond, then I will get bonus points that I would have otherwise accrued until I hit the overall program cap ($10K starwood uber spend and 40K points for SPG75+).
2. When you link your account, it asks your for permission for starwood to get access to all your uber information, which includes location from-to, date/time, type of uber service, and fare. Privacy is governed by the general privacy policy, which means that starwood can mine and use that data to do all kinds of marketing by themselves and with their partners. This is one thing I don't love.
Looking forward to the first points posting, I think I already spent the first 1K in London this week since linking my accounts.

Have linked my account.
Can anyone confirm if UberTaxi will be eligible to earn any point?
or it must be UberX or UberExcecutive, these are the only 3 options available for Singapore.

And I also agree on point 2. The cost of earning points these days is your privacy, unfortunately. Wish it wasn't the case.

The Uber option has just turned up, 2min before the time period starts. I'm off to central London shortly, so hopefully one will be around!

I just got one. If you are close to Piccadilly he's dropping me off there in 10 min
Neat little amenity kit inside the car
