UPDATE: October 26, 2017
Effective December 17, 2017 the SPG partnership with Uber will come to an end.

Members who have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017.

If the stay overlaps with the program end date, you will still earn 2 starpoints per USD 1 spent on Uber rides taken during your stay. Any rides taken after 11:59 on December 17, 2017 even if taken during a stay that originated on or before December 17, 2014 will not earn starpoints on that uber ride.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will members stop earning Starpoints on their Uber rides?
Members who have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits.

If members have a stay that overlaps with the program end date, will they still earn 2 Starpoints per US$1 spent on Uber rides taken during the stay?
Yes, members who check-in for a Stay prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017 and have an Uber pick-up time prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits, will earn 2 Starpoints for every U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent denomination spent for fares on the Uber ride(s). Any rides taken after 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, even if taken during a stay that originated on or prior to December 17, 2017, will not earn Starpoints on the Uber ride(s). To earn Starpoints for any Uber ride the member must have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year.

Why did I recently have a delay in my Starpoints posting for my Uber rides?
An issue was identified affecting Uber rides over the last month that delayed the posting of points to member accounts. We have since fixed this issue and members should receive all ride credits within the stated 2-4 week period.

UPDATE: January 18, 2017
Uber Partnership Update
  • During Hotel stay: Members will earn two Starpoints per US$1 spent with Uber (versus two, three or four Starpoints per US$1, depending on member tier).
  • Everyday: members will earn one Starpoint per US$2 spent with Uber (versus one Starpoint per US$1).

With your SPG and Uber accounts linked and you have met a requirement of ONE qualifying stay in the current calendar year, SPG members will earn 1 point per dollar spent with Uber on every day rides. For rides during stays, SPG members will earn 2 points per dollar spent on Uber (Preferred), 3 points per (Gold or Platinum), or 4 points per (Plat75).

There is a maximum of $10,000 in points-earning spend with Uber per calendar year. This means that you could have up to 40,000 SPG points with this promotion (if you were a Plat75 and only used Uber while on SPG stays and maxed out $10,000 in Uber services).

On connecting the accounts: would there be any way to connect to an Uber account that uses a different email address? I have a 'good' email address that I use very selectively for personal emails and 'good' companies like SPG, and then a 'spam' email address that I give to the likes of Uber and other companies that send too many promo emails. I think others do the same. It is annoying to have to give Uber my good email address.

This is a pretty exciting announcement. No more yellow taxis for me. Now I'm thinking about going into SF for the day this Saturday and just hanging out hoping to get lucky enough to be selected for the SuiteRide promotion. Of course, I don't know what my chances would be given how many people may be doing the exact same thing...

My apologies, but in order to link the two accounts, the last name and the email address would have to match...exactly.

I just signed up for this and got the "Success YOU’VE LINKED YOUR SPG AND UBER ACCOUNTS." message and then I got a text from SPGALerts telling me I had linked my SPG & Delta accounts.

Though I'm happy to get SPG points from riding UBER I see that it's the usual great IT from SPG...

Just confirming that your message was received.

My apologies for some linking issues some of you are having, but we are working diligently to try and sort this out as soon as possible.

For those who are having issues linking your SPG and Uber accounts when the last name and two email accounts are the same, please try these steps:

Log out of your Uber account
Log out of your SPG account
Close all the browsers
Open a new browser session
Type in spg.com/uber
• On that page – log in to your SPG account from the account section in the top banner
Click link accounts
And go through the process

If the issue persists, feel free to send us your SPG account number and we will pass it along to the team that is working on this.

We know this is an inconvenience and we appreciate your patience while it gets sorted out.

Love this partnership.

The T&C's note that Starpoints will be earned for every dollar of Uber "fares," and I'm curious to know what exactly this covers. Is it base fare/time/distance? Is the "Safe Ride" fee on UberX rides included? What about toll charges (he asks in the Midtown Tunnel)?

Thanks!

Hi mario,

Sorry to learn that you are having difficulties in linking your SPG and Uber accounts.

If you can send us your SPG account number, we will pass it along to the team to look into it. Though it may not be fixed in time for the promotion on Saturday, we hope you can enjoy the benefit for your future Uber rides.

I missed the "within 24 hours" part.

Linked accounts and then spent GBP200 on 3 trips in London while staying at the Park Towers.

Looking forward to seeing the first posts of someone who has received SPG points from riding Uber.
Anyone care to post a screenshot? Quite curious to see how long it takes to post!

At this point I am more curious how long it will take SPG to fix the issue with linking accounts. I am still getting "an error has occurred, please try again later."

Maybe they should give us points to work as their QA testers. :-)

Change your SPG email address to your spam Uber email address and then after linking your accounts change your SPG email address back.
