UPDATE: October 26, 2017
Effective December 17, 2017 the SPG partnership with Uber will come to an end.

Members who have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017.

If the stay overlaps with the program end date, you will still earn 2 starpoints per USD 1 spent on Uber rides taken during your stay. Any rides taken after 11:59 on December 17, 2017 even if taken during a stay that originated on or before December 17, 2014 will not earn starpoints on that uber ride.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will members stop earning Starpoints on their Uber rides?
Members who have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits.

If members have a stay that overlaps with the program end date, will they still earn 2 Starpoints per US$1 spent on Uber rides taken during the stay?
Yes, members who check-in for a Stay prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017 and have an Uber pick-up time prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits, will earn 2 Starpoints for every U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent denomination spent for fares on the Uber ride(s). Any rides taken after 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, even if taken during a stay that originated on or prior to December 17, 2017, will not earn Starpoints on the Uber ride(s). To earn Starpoints for any Uber ride the member must have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year.

Why did I recently have a delay in my Starpoints posting for my Uber rides?
An issue was identified affecting Uber rides over the last month that delayed the posting of points to member accounts. We have since fixed this issue and members should receive all ride credits within the stated 2-4 week period.

UPDATE: January 18, 2017
Uber Partnership Update
  • During Hotel stay: Members will earn two Starpoints per US$1 spent with Uber (versus two, three or four Starpoints per US$1, depending on member tier).
  • Everyday: members will earn one Starpoint per US$2 spent with Uber (versus one Starpoint per US$1).

With your SPG and Uber accounts linked and you have met a requirement of ONE qualifying stay in the current calendar year, SPG members will earn 1 point per dollar spent with Uber on every day rides. For rides during stays, SPG members will earn 2 points per dollar spent on Uber (Preferred), 3 points per (Gold or Platinum), or 4 points per (Plat75).

There is a maximum of $10,000 in points-earning spend with Uber per calendar year. This means that you could have up to 40,000 SPG points with this promotion (if you were a Plat75 and only used Uber while on SPG stays and maxed out $10,000 in Uber services).

Happened to me too, seems like the email is more strict than last name. Change your primary email then change it back, matching the SPG email address on your Uber profile page. It worked afterwards instantly.

The web portal might help: https://riders.uber.com/profile

Bonus SPG during dates of hotel stay is ^

Sounds like I can take Uber to airport, fly to destination, check-in and earn bonus. Same for return date. Checkout, fly to home, take Uber from airport to home.

At the bottom of the T&C page is the following

SPG-Uber #Suite Ride Promotion Terms and Conditions
By using the SPG-Uber #SuiteRide Limited Offer (the “Promotion”), you agree to the following:

The Promotion is a limited offer for SPG Members who have linked their SPG account to Uber and utilize the SPG branded Uber vehicle on February 28, 2015, during the hours of 2pm and 7pm local time in the following cities: New York, San Francisco, London, Dubai and Mexico City.

SPG Members who meet the terms set forth in these Promotion terms and conditions will receive a local, one-way, complimentary ride in the SPG branded Uber vehicle along with special hotel amenities during the ride. In addition, SPG Member will be eligible to receive 15,000 Starpoints.

The availability of SPG branded Uber vehicles will be limited during the Promotion hours. Neither SPG nor Uber can guarantee that there will be enough SPG branded Uber vehicles to meet demand during the Promotion. Approximately 460 SPG Members will be eligible to receive the benefits of the Promotion across the five cities.

SPG Members who have met the qualifications for this Promotion will receive 15,000 Starpoints. The Starpoints will be deposited into their SPG account within 3-4 weeks from February 28, 2015, and upon all verifications and validations from SPG and Uber. In order to receive the Starpoints, SPG Members must link their SPG account to their Uber account within 30 days of using the SPG branded Uber vehicle.

The complimentary ride offer is for a local, one-way ride in the SPG branded Uber vehicle during the Promotion.

SPG Members may only take advantage of this Promotion once during the Promotion hours.

Only the SPG Member who has used their Uber account to utilize the SPG branded Uber vehicle is eligible to receive the benefits of the Promotion. All other occupants or passengers in the SPG branded Uber vehicle will not receive the benefits of the Promotion or any of the awards.

The 15,000 Starpoints cannot be transferred, duplicated or sold and there is no cash value.

In the event either SPG or Uber suspect that the use or redemption of the Promotion was in error, fraudulent, illegal or in violation of these SPG-Uber Promotion Terms and Conditions or in violation of the SPG-Uber Benefits Program Terms, SPG and Uber reserve the right to withhold or deduct Starpoints or Uber credits from your SPG and/or Uber accounts respectively.

The Promotion may be terminated or modified at any time and without any liability to SPG or Uber.

The Promotion will be used for its intended and lawful purpose and pursuant to the SPG-Uber Benefits Terms and the SPG Terms and Conditions and Uber Terms of Use.

Only one Promotion per SPG Member is allowed.

The Promotion is void where prohibited by law.

I just linked mine, you should see the below once it's linked.

Success
You’ve linked your SPG and Uber accounts.

If you haven’t already, make sure you complete one qualifying SPG® stay this
calendar year. Once you have completed a qualifying SPG stay this calendar year,
you’ll be all set to start earning Starpoints® with Uber.

This is an incredible partnership. And I wonder if you have to check-in to the hotel first, or if it just have to be on the day of your stay or to/from that SPG property...

Because the ride form airport to SPG property could potentially could potentially add up to a lot of points.

My guess is this. Just like your SPG app opens the "Stay" tab on the date of your stay, regardless if you´ve already checked in.

I should have read the FAQ first... it says:

"In addition to any such Starpoints you may earn for all Uber rides, you will also earn bonus Starpoints for fares for all Uber rides taken during a Stay at an SPG Participating Hotel, where the Uber ride pick-up time occurs at any time between the date you check-in for such Stay (any time between 12AM through 11:59PM local time on such date) through the date you check-out from such Stay (12:00AM through 11:59PM local time on such date). The amount of bonus Starpoints you will earn will depend on your SPG membership status level at the time the Starpoints are posted to your SPG Member account"

I think the T&Cs are clear.

2.1 b
“Stay Eligibility Period” means any time between the date (which includes 12:00 A.M. through 11:59 P.M. local time of such date) that the Participant checks in for a Stay and the date (which includes 12:00 A.M. through 11:59 P.M. local time of such date) that the Participant checks out from such Stay; and
Of course if you were flying intercontinental, it might be a problem.

I agree. Thankfully, it is pretty easy to change your email address on the Uber website.

Or the other way around.

What I did was change the SPG e-mail address temporarily, link the accounts, and changed the addres back to its original form.

I'm therefore assuming the e-mail address only needs to be equal at the point of linking. We shall see after the first ride ^

What a great promotion! Hopefully it won't be difficult to book the Suite Ride on Saturday in San Francisco due to high demand.
