Despite my optimism, availability is still pathetic for Brussels hotels. Across eight days from 27th April to 5th May, only one out of five hotels has C&P available, and only for some of the days. We'll see if the situation improves over time, but I'm not very hopeful.

I have C+P reservation in a Sheraton which just dropped from Cat5 to Cat4.
So now it is 5K + $75 which I think is a better deal than 4.8K + $90.
How soon after cancelling the reservation the points will be deposited?

So I booked a bunch of reservations at the old rate. My reservations now show on SPG.com at the new rate, higher points and higher cash. My account history still shows that the old amount of points were pulled -- so that's good.
Has anybody had a problem with a hotel wanting to collect the new higher amount of cash?

Was looking out of curiosity and Aloft BKK is not offering P&C for Th, F or Sat night through Dec. Four Points BKK, PA and ROSH are not offering P&C through the end of the year.
Where is this supposed increased availability we were told about?

Using my spreadsheet to calculate value of cash, point and C&P, the C&P is still a bit better value than all point but they are not the really good Generally when it does not worth to pay with points, it does not worth to pay with C&P.

Why would you want to use C&P at the Aloft on weekends? C&P is worthless to me for Cat 1 & 2 weekend award rates.

New rates were a devaluation and in no way a promise to more availability.
In fact, with the new calculation, cash is always a better choice. The have taken away the value from all but those with bucketloads of points.
