Check and make sure they haven't already upgraded you... not sure when you're staying but I'm staying there next week and they've already upgraded me to a Junior suite. I wouldn't use them at this property.

I've just noticed that out of my 16 upcoming reservations (mixutre of revenue, reward and C&P), every single one of them says:

We’re sorry, Suite Night Awards can’t be applied to this reservation.
except for the 2 where I have already requested the suite upgrades.

I still have 15 SNAs in my account.

Problem fixed! I can request upgrades again.

Questionable for SNA

Dear expert,
I wanna book for 2 rooms/night for family travelling[Family & Me]. If I use SNA for one room only, and another room which use for standard upgrade on available. It is acceptable on T&Cs??
Another question, 1st room which use available platinum upgrade come together with platinum benefits. How about the second room which use SNA : Could recieve platinum benefits together??? such as free breakfast ,late checkout to 4 pm , club benefits etc.

I have in the past gotten a platinum upgrade on my room, and used a SNA for family in a second room. I believe the rules just state that you must be in at least one of the rooms. You can't use SNA for family traveling without you. When you mention "platinum benefit" do you mean breakfast? It's only valid for you and one other adult staying in the same room as you. Some hotels may offer more, but that's all they have to offer.

Have you ever had received platinum benefits for both rooms ?
Thanks again.

Willian, there's a glitch in the SPG app. Seems that reservations made on the app are automatically not eligible for SNAs. Just made 2 normal revenue reservations over the last 2 days (still waiting for BRG approval) and neither is eligible for upgrading. If it matters, one is for the Four Points in BCN, the other for the Tremont in ORD.

The SPG app is not to blame for that. Neither of these properties are currently participating in Suite Night Awards.

William,

I've asked a plat rep before about this. I have a vacation planned for Bali next year and got C+P for the garden room at the W. I have yet to use any SNA, never really bothered for one night. As I don't take many vacations I feel like I wouldn't get the most out of them. My question is and I know that it's a no-go right now, but in the future could we possibly stack SNAs for a double upgrade if available? So for my example I've got a 4 night stay with 4 SNAs, I would then use 8 for a double upgrade. Also completely OT but when I try and put in for a special request (anniversary, whatever) on an existing reservation I am limited to 150 characters.

I'll be glad to pass the suggestion along. Whether or not it is technically possible to do so may be another matter.

After reading this thread and related ones, it seems clear to me that the 10 Suite Night Awards are a phantom status reward. I will end the year a few nights short of 50 and I dont see an incentive to press for the SNA's as a worthwhile goal. Just wanted to chime-in in hopes that Starwood gets some feedback and modifies the implementation so that SNA's are actually worth pursuing.

Selective reading at its best!

1) There are success stories in this thread, too.

2) People tend to write about stuff that went bad more than stuff that went well so the vast majority of SNA success stories aren't going to be on Flyertalk.

I had a huge suite in a busy airport Sheraton 2 days ago that was SNA confirmed 4 days prior to check-in. I am currently sitting in an executive suite in a Westin in Canada that was SNA confirmed a few days before check-in. I have an SNA pending for a property in Hong Kong that will probably clear if past successes are any indication.

I had 3 / 3 success at various Thai properties using SNA.

SNA work. They put you ahead of the pack in terms of Plat upgrades "at time of check-in". The issues people experienced in these thread (and those are most certainly the minority of transactions) are mostly genuine teething problems.

The cases where it really won't happen is likely a property that's genuinely full.

I'm not so sure about that... Bear in mind people are more likely to post negative then positive comments.

My one time I used them, I was upgraded to a massive (not standard) suite for 6 nights even though all standard suites were sold out online.
