What's the likely upgrade for a Platinum in Nice from an SDMR vehicle?

highlanderfil Sep 20, 2014 5:53 pm

Traveling to France next May. Just discovered that Sweden has a BMW M135i/Merc A45 AMG under IXAR. Is a similar vehicle available in Paris or what class should I book in hopes of getting a hot hatch of any kind?

Hi,

Over the weekend I booked a Volkswagen Passat with Sixt online with Pre-payment. As usual, I also booked a Navigation System without realising that this time I am booking a car which has a built in Navigation System. While picking up the keys at the counter, I requested to cancel the additional charges for the Navigation System but it was denied stating that since the car has in-built Navi, I would still be charged.

I don't think this is usual with other Car Rentals. Could you please check?

Regards,

Anup

You should delete your contract number ASAP. You've put it out here in a public forum.

Removed the contract number... However, does it really matter? The contract number is just a one time info and no one other than Sixt Employees should be able to see more information based on this info.

Does Sixt match to National Executive?

NZ_Flyer Sep 23, 2014 12:53 am

I think this is standard, as not all cars within that category will have in-built navi so if you book a navi system you're paying for a separate unit and getting a car without navi or getting a car with in-built navi. If you don't book a navi and get a car with inbuilt navi it's just a bonus.

Hi Kpoxa,

Sorry for the delay in my response, as I was checking this with the claims team in Germany.

They have advised that the engineer fee is the bill of the expert who has issued a repair cost calculation or expertise for the claims team to show the damage amount on the vehicle. The expenses claimed by Sixt DE are administration costs in conjunction with the handling of a damage file and are chargeable according to German tort law. Such costs are usually settled on a fixed cost basis, as additional expenses are always incurred.

If you require any further information then please send me a private message and I'll send you the contact info for the claims team in Germany.

I hope this can help to solve your query.

Thanks, Jess.

Upon my return I filled Visa Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver claim and submitted all required documents. I was surprised when Sixt bill came out at almost 900 EUR. There were over 800 EUR in damage, 50 EUR administrative fee and 25 EUR engineer fee. Visa offered to pay in full except engineer fee that they said are not covered under card benefits. Sixt refused to accept a settlement unless 25 EUR engineer fee is paid.

Does anyone know if engineer fee is customary fee in Germany or they just charge it because they can? It’s not a high price to pay to settle but I am just wondering what they are charging engineer fee for since I haven’t seen this from US rental companies.

Hi,

Which location in Paris are you looking to hire from? Also, do you know which dates you'll need the vehicle for? If you could let me know I'll be happy to have a look and see what's available for you.

Thanks, Jess.

Hi Anup,

If you book a navigation system online, then you are guaranteed to receive one upon your arrival. This may be either a built in service or as a handheld device and is chargeable as an additional service.

If you would like to send me a private message with your reservation or contract number, I'll be happy to look into this further if you require any additional information.

Thanks, Jess.

Hi highlanderfil,

Thanks for confirming that.

The branches in France don't share the same fleets as those in Sweden, so we wouldn't be able to get the exact vehicles for you I'm afraid. The closest thing that we would have would be a CLMR category. This includes BMW 1 series, Alfa Giulietta or VW Golf VII. These are just the standard versions of these vehicles, as the ones you have specified in Sweden are more of the Sport versions.

I hope this can help, and please let me know if you need anything further.

Thanks, Jess.

Right, I understand. But do the French locations have ANYTHING sporty and compact at all?
