Having usually gone with Hertz on rentals in the USA i looked up some prizes for my summer trip to Cali and Vegas.
When comparing Hertz prizes with Sixt at LAX im stunned at the much cheaper prize. Like for example a Mercedes SLK will cost me nearly 3k right now with Hertz for a 10 day rental. The Sixt prize for their SLK with is just about 1200. Am i missing something obvious here or what is going on?. |

Sat Nav
I'm looking to hire an XCAR at MCO, Nov 14th to Dec1st. This will be pre-booked in the UK.
I don't want to pay the additional Sat Nav charge. Will this be added if the car has built in Sat Nav. What car could I expect at MCO, in XCAR. |

Sixt is the only German owned major car rental company and FWIW, the only family-owned one in that group also. Those two facts make the differentiate publicly their preference for German-branded vehicles. The net result is that model-for-model Sixt is usually much cheaper than any other option for rental of MB, BMW and Audi, specifically. often their vehicles come quite well equipped but, especially in the US, some of them are pretty basic. Lots of A6 and 3-series do not have satnav, and most do not have parking assist, so you might sometimes be surprised at lack of equipment. I have in the US roughly 50/50 experience on SatNav, reverse cameras and Sirius radio. Considering I never come close to competing prices for those cars, I am quite satisfied with Sixt in all respects.

What's going on here is that at most US locations, Sixt is off airport (need to catch a Sixt shuttle), limits the vehicle to be driven to certain surrounding states, not open 24 hours etc. With Sixt, definitely re-check your rate 14 days to even 1 day before pickup. They will often drop to shocking low rates.
I agree that the US BMW 3-series are pretty bare bones and higher mileage (16-25K at least in MIA/FLL) but compared to Hertz, a bare bones 3-series is still better than a 25-40K mileage GM/Altima/Camry Hertz is offering. |

Hi,
The vehicles in the XCAR category at MCO are BMW 5 series, Mercedes E class and Cadillac XTS. As our fleet is constantly changing due to availability and demand, unfortunately I wouldn't be able to confirm which vehicle you'd be most likely to receive. There would be a charge for a sat nav in the vehicle. The 'navigation system guaranteed' fee will ensure that you receive a sat nav for the duration of your hire. This will either be inbuilt into the vehicle or as a separate handheld device. Hope this helps, Jess.

Reserved LCAR @ LAX for a week at the middle of this month. What car am I likely to get? ATS? 3er? Also am I allowed to drive the car from LA to LAS?
Are there any V8 engined Mustang/Camaro coupes (not cabrios) in the fleet at LAX? What cars do they have for STAR at LAX? |
Sixt reply
Hi Dave,
Not all of the vehicles in each category come with sat navs included. So the charge for the navigation system will ensure you receive one of these devices for your hire, either as handheld or built into the vehicle itself. Unfortunately, we would not be able to waive this charge. Thanks, Jess.

Hi senna60_94,
The LCAR category at LAX includes Cadillac ATS, Mercedes Benz C Class, BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. As we cannot guarantee make and model, I am unable to specify which of these vehicles will be provided to you for the hire. If you would like to make a request for a specific vehicle, please feel free to send me a private message with your reservation number and the vehicle you'd prefer. While this isn't a guarantee, the branch will see the request and try their best to provide you with the vehicle of your choice. From California, cross border travel is allowed to Arizona, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada, as long as you can provide a return airline ticket/boarding pass or round trip itinerary. Proof of insurance might be required. Please ensure that the vehicle is returned to the same location as collection. The vehicles in the STAR category at LAX are Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camero. Our fleet is constantly changing due to availability and demand, so I am unable to advise more specifically with regard to specific models. I hope this helps to solve your query. Many thanks, Jess.

As for cross boarder travel, my booking is for LAX-LAX, & I will only take the car into LAS (& within NV). Also, if I've taken up ur LDW+LIS option then there's no need for proof of insurance, is that correct? |
Hi,
I hold a Sixt Platinum Card. If I make a booking via a travel agent (in this case American Express Travel), would the Platinum benefits still apply? If so, which ones? Lastly, how would add my platinum number to the booking? |
Las Vegas express counter?
Hi,
I am eager to try Sixt and have an excellent rate reserved in Las Vegas for Dec. 30. I've already signed-up for the Sixt Express Card, but does the office have the Express Counter working yet or not? I'd prefer not to have to wait in line, even for the much better rate. Thanks! |
