Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me?

I returned to the UK from a trip to Germany 8 days ago, where I hired a car from SIXT frankfurt airport. While I was driving the car, I touched a kerb with the passenger front wheel while entering a multistory car park. When we dropped the car off the first thing we did was show the Sixt staff member who was greeting returning cars the scratches on the wheel that had hit the kerb, and he referred us to another gentleman who was checking the returning cars over (he had a clipboard and looking around the cars etc).

He took a look and told us there was nothing to worry about and promptly discharged us to our leaving flight.

Today, I have received an email from Sixt with a damage report wanting further details of the incident etc, and the description of the damage was rather kryptic but obviously referring to the scratches on that wheel. I completed the survey and now have to wait to see what they want to do.

Does anyone know if Sixt will charge me for this and if so a rough estimate? It seems rather unfair if they do so seeing as the Sixt chap who was checking the car told us it was fine.

This was the first time I had hired a car and was very thorough about insurance options before the trip. From my investigations online I found that you dont have to take the insurance with the rental company and found an insurance firm called Questor who charged me much less for insurance than the rental company would. However now I am home 8 days later and the rental agreement has passed I don't know where I would stand if Sixt decide they now want to charge me.

Many thanks

Rental in Germany

I am renting a one way rental form Munich to Cologne next week. I booked the smallest car I could on the site.

I am wondering if I can take the car to Czech Republic, Netherlands or Belgium or do I have to stay in Germany?

Would be great to know to help me plan out a guideline for the trip!

I haven't ever used Sixt before, so this is a first :)

You and I are in the SAME boat, although my damage I have NO idea how it got there as I did not hit anything. However scratches were spotted the second I dropped the car off. I got the same song and dance as you, don't worry about it blah blah blah...fast forward now two weeks and they are requesting the full deductible from me as the damage was around what they claim to be 1800 Euro. I am not sure what will happen in your example, but I am in the middle of figuring out mine.

Hi guys,

I have a little question is that I've register a platinum with my elite TK FF program, but I can't make any reservation through the system. When I click "get a quote" , it showed the below sentence "An error occurred while processing your login data used."

Is that I have to wait for about 24 hours to let the system sync my data or verify with TK?

Thanks

Hi sh2dow, I'll take a look for you. PM me with further info. Thanks, Matt

Hi sixtisbest, How do you mean a puncture without further accident? I'll happily answer the question once I know what perspective you are asking from :) Matt

Can any company reps explain to me why I was charged 24.01 in addition to the complete rental charge? This happened a week or thereabouts after I dropped the car off. I was sent an email by sixt which I responded to. This email was about some damage on the car after I brought it back and wanted me to explain what the damage was and if it occurred while I had the car. My statement says it is an online, mail or telephone transaction.

Hi macdonald2j, I can have a look into this for you. Please private message me your rental info and I'll check it out. Hope this helps, Matt

Hi Matt,

I am going to rent a car in Germany.
May I know what is the definition of low level objects?
And how about if the accident leads to total loss of the car?
Furthermore, Is it a must to report to the police after the accident in order to be covered by CDW?
By the way, I think it is difficult to refer to T&C to the clause about CDW, may you please point out which clause is talking about CDW?
I don't have any idea about the CDW as I am from Asia. My home city don't have this kind of car rental insurance.
Thanks.

Hi fai88119, An example of a low level object is a low bridge or any object that comes into contact with the roof and causes damage. If the car is a total loss as the result of an accident all circumstances will be taken into consideration. Each case is unique and therefore I am unable to comment specifically. Essentially if you are driving correctly and following our terms you will only be liable for the excess amount. I can send you a link to the T&C's which provides a breakdown of the clauses, but this depends on the country you are going to hire in.

Please PM me with further info and I'll be sure to send you the link. I hope this is beneficial, Matt

you can enter CZ with any car group unless it is an Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, VW, Porsche, Aston Martin or Jeeps/Offroader. Alll kinds of minibuses are allowed to enter as well (also Mercedes buses).

But do mention it in your reservation and do explicitly mention it again when you get your car at the counter! It might be overlooked.

People of Sixt,

I have a little question about the use of a voucher as payment.

I have enough points from bahn.bonus (Deutsche Bahn) to get a 50€ Sixt voucher. How do I use this and what are the restrictions?

Manly: can I book before I have this voucher and present it when I collect the car? And I assume it only works on the flex tarif. Could this be confirmed?

Dear Matthrew,

I am interested for the policy too.
How about for the condition without further accident?
