Okay roger that.

90K for his trip. All depends on distance, obviously. I'm looking at JFK-FRA-SIN-HKG for 105K, with 25 hrs flight time (may as well make it a long haul)
Already have 160K saved between me and the GF.

Good article I read about suites: http://travelsort.com/blog/top-10-be...risflyer-miles

How does one check the mileage required for this suite?

I guess for myself, I would probably like to fly in this thing once for LAX > ICN or PEK route.

this is why this story sounds so spectacular to a lot of people in the general population, and here too where most members are north americans. And therefore there is so much interest around it.

on the other forum sqtalk.com where most members are actual SQ flyers, the story didn't pick up until a week later when i decided to post it and very soon the thread died. As actual SQ flyers, we know how accessible this product is and it has been around for 7 years. It's just another Suites trip report. It's good but not phenomenal.

87500 minus 15% (13125) = 74375 miles on Chase, which is less than what F costs on Korean Air (although with more availability).
Phenomenal product, really.

It's all relative. As a non-frequent flier who only just completed his first domestic first class trip on a UA 757-200 last month, the Suites Class looks insanely luxurious. Initially I was rather flabbergasted by the report, presuming it would take at least several hundred thousand miles to fly it (of course, leaving out the fact that it was less than 100K may have been a deliberate method to avoid the fact that he really isn't all that special for flying in it). But quick research revealed the truth.

I've never flown overseas, and have two trips planned over the next couple years to MLE and HKG... all I really know is that I don't want to fly coach.

87.5k miles is from SIN-San Paulo (South America), Zone 1 to Zone 15 on the Award Chart. Do note this is one way. Multiply by 2 for Roundtrip.

US CC holders have the most advantage here. Earning points is peanuts for them.

Hope to have access to US CCs once they process my green card application. I'll probably be an old man by then.
