I'd like to think that "chaser" is really a nonsense. I tried calling KF yesterday, and just said, hi, can you double check if SIN-XXX on this day is really on waitlist?, because I had experience wherein , it was on waitlist online, but upon calling, its available for confirmation? ( this is true, maybe system glitch). Then I asked, " Is this the case of my waitlisted flight? She said, ah yes, sir, its really waitlisted. But I can send a CHASER..Then pretending that I dont know the word, I asked, what does it mean?? Ohh, its a like request, then I just said , oh really, thanks for ur help. 16 hours later, I recieved a sms that my waitlist has been cleared. Coincidence?? perhaps, but let us say, CHASER might really works sometimes, dont just ask for it I have no status though.

As it turned out, there were J return to ADL and F return to MEL on exactly the dates I wanted without need for waitlisting. Though I would've preferred to go to IST or ZRH. Aaaah.... deeply inhaling fresh Aussie air now!

Would be interested to know if others have had success... not sure if waitlisting on the website will automatically trigger confirmation for same day flights, as otherwise the seats will go empty...

Trying to book HKG -> SIN -> CDG all on suites for May 2018. I see availability for SIN -> CDG on saver on separate legs but the HKG -> SIN is on waitlist. Planning to pay the extra $100 for a stopover at SIN. Do I have a good chance of getting this cleared?

Can I book the HKG-SIN-CDG and ask them to book the SIN-CDG since it is available? I'd book separately but the price requirement is quite significant.

Thanks!

If you're planning to stopover SIN anyway, why don't you choose another (dummy) date where there's confirmed availability for HKG-SIN to secure your HKG-SIN-CDG, but waitlist for your desired HKG-SIN in another HKG-SIN-CDG booking. That way if waitlist clears, you can change to your desired HKG-SIN. Or change to any other suitable HKG-SIN if required.

Yes, they can confirm the SIN-CDG segment and waitlist the HKG-SIN segment on one booking reference. You may have to HUACA if you reach an agent that is unwilling/unknowledgeable, but I've been able to do this several times.

3. Is there an arrival lounge in FRA? We will be taking another flight to BCN, but most likely on LH and in economy. Alternatively, is there a Priority Pass lounge we can access and does it have showers?
1. depends if the airline bringing you from TUL to JFK has an interline agreement with SQ. if UA, then yes.
2. no Pre-Check, but they can escort you through security, which involves bringing you to a shorter line (or the front...I don't remember). This might depend on how busy the check-in agent is.
3. no arrival lounge for SQ passengers. dunno about PP lounges.

Does anybody have any recent experience with waitlists clearing for either SQ25 or SQ325 FRA-SIN? Am waitlisted for a total of three dates in mid-July, four flights, need one seat only; KF Gold.

Last december when i was still KF Gold I cleared 2 J seats on SQ325 just 4 days before the flight (and halfway into my holiday!!). Probably called twice in the week leading up to the flight to send chasers. I think it all depends on how full the flight is, but i do believe that KF Golds are given higher priority over lesser statuses..

Why not?

My more recent experiences, they only cleared the flights with higher priority and reasons (ie another party confirmed on same flight, and 1 week from flight date), while my flights in Mar 2018 took few weeks to clear (asked to send chaser, but did not provide details that other party are cleared on same flight).

So not really sure if the chaser will help, but my flights did clear.

For those who are interested to know which flights clear and dates etc:
KF blue (ie general member)

SIN - HND - SIN in J for 2 seats, booked 1-2 weeks out for early May 2017. J was about 70% full, with 1 or 2 seats open when booking.

SIN - TPE - SIN in J for 5 seats in Mar 2018. Booked through a combi of KF miles and *A miles, with up to 3 seats available from *A miles, the rest thru KF miles. 2 seats were waitlisted on KF and cleared after about 3-4 weeks. Booked about 1 year out.

If saver award space is blocked, any chance of opening up even on waitlist further down the track? about 5 months from flight

You mean that you are unable to waitlist for the saver space?

This only means that the waitlist is full, up to the maximum they will allow inside the waitlist, which is about 4 people for saver J. The waitlist might open up if they increase the quota or people remove themselves from the waitlist/cleared. This would also most likely means that you would be the last person on the full waitlist, unless you have PPS and get priority over others, it might not clear at all. If the flight is full, the waitlist might not clear at all.

Any experience on waitlisted 2nd segment of the same flight clearing? Does it get any priority like travel companion seems to? Booked LAX-ICN SQ7 in J confirmed, waitlisted ICN-SIN for the same flight, but for now confirmed on a flight with an overnight layover.

Booked a few days ago for September, no status. Rep sent a chaser for the ICN-SIN segment.

Just checked the flight I am waitlisted on. I would be able to waitlist 6 more people into J on the same flight I am waitlisted on.

Adding my experience to this:

Booked redemption in J, one way SIN-ZRH on June 6th for a flight date August 9th.

Today July 6th, received confirmation email that it's now cleared.

I have no more status with KF or StarAlliance. Lost KF Gold last year.
