I'm going to venture a guess that he probably stayed in one of the ones that has the patio/terrace, which have not been renovated into the traditional Skyloft decor. I could be wrong on that, but my impression is that there are only 3 3-bedrooms, two of which are in the modern Skyloft decor, one of which, which has the patio/terrace, is not.

Here is what I learned during my recent visit:

* There are 3 3-BR Skylofts, however none of them have balconies or patios.
* Two of them are renovated, and one is not. (The one that is not renovated is loft 28.)
* The Skyloft rooms with the balconies/patios are also not renovated, however they are 2BR units.
* There are also a couple of 2BR units that have not yet been renovated (in addition to those with the balconies), however ALL units will eventually be renovated to match the modern Skyloft theme.

Just stayed at the Royal Palms Resort in Phoenix. Booked two rooms through Amex and both were upgraded the day before arrival (I asked when I called to confirm). Additionally, they included the spa credit and breakfast credit for each room on our final bill at check out ($260 total value). Also, I did not pay with my Amex on checkout, used another form of payment.

The hotel was great, dining was superb and the weather was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel.

FYI the upgrade was from the base room we booked (parking lot view), to a similar room with porch seating opening up to a view of the resort fountain area.

Park Hyatt Hamburg

- Upgrade to Club Floor including Club Lounge access (booked Park King room)

- Asked if I wanted to use the 4 pm checkout when checking in - unfortunately I had an early flight the next morning.

- Full buffet breakfast with a great selection in their restaurant.

- Special amenity was a bottle of German Gewurztraminer Spaetlese wine and a small cheeseboard with very good artisanal cheeses.

- Room booked through FHR was 30 Euros cheaper than through the Hyatt website

Mandarin Oriental New York

- Upgrade to a Hudson View room / High Floor from a Standard Room

- Asked about 4 pm checkout at checkin which I gladly accepted

- Received a letter explaining all the benefits at checkin

- Continental breakfast for two in Asiate restaurant or through in-room-dining. Chose in-room-dining and did not have to pay for the gratuity and the tip

- Special amenity was a lunch (or brunch on the weekends) for two at their Asiate restaurant. As it was easter they offered an easter brunch ($68 per person). With drinks and gratuity this came to over $200 for the two of us. Did not have to pay for taxes, gratuity and tip.

- Booked an FHR special offer which included $100 off your stay plus a special culinary amenity delivered to your room (unfortunately we never received that amenity)

Ritz Carlton Central Park New York

- No room upgrade - booked Deluxe Park view for $950 (RC rate was $920).
Received just the same on highest floor (22nd).

Emailed the hotel before stay and was told that they do not upgrade FHR bookings but therefore they are offering free Club Lounge access (which we luckily received) upon availability.

The lounge is very nice with a view of Central Park, about 6 different food presentations per day (including American Caviar in the early evening) and all day bottomless champagne. You could easily skip dinner with all that food!

- Was asked about late checkout when checking in. No problem using the Club lounge afterwards until 8pm as we had late flight home.

- Continental breakfast in restaurant or breakfast through room service ($80 allowance). Had room service breakfast for $87. Was removed totally from the bill (incl. gratuity).

- Special amenity was a lunch in their BLT Market reataurant ($85 allowance).
Did not have to pay anything for taxes, gratuity and tips.

W New Orleans

stayed @ the W New Orleans over easter weekend. No suites available @ checkin but got a high floor corner room, they said this was the best they could do. FHR certificates in a nice neat envelope, 1 a day for bfast and 1 for $50 credit @ their Zoe restaurant for lunch. All used w/o a problem, got bfast option for in room, zoe rest, or their W cafe. Nice gym with a pool just outside. Impressively good gym. Clean hotel no problems, Whiskey bar had a decent environment at night, good looking waitresses.

they also had an acura promo at the time for their whatever/whenever concierge service. we took acura SUV's from the hotel to dinner no charge, too bad couldn't use it to get to the airport.

I just got back from a 3 night stay at THEhotel @ mandalay bay. I reserved 5 rooms, three on my card and the other two on my sisters card. They were very nice at checkin and handed us amex envelopes with our names on it for each room which had the breakfast coupons in it as well as the letter explaining the benefits. They upgraded all the suites to corner suites, they offered us a beautiful upgrade for an extra $200 a night to a huge penthouse suite. We checked out the room and it was very nice but 4 of the rooms were on the 7th floor and you needed to take a seperate elevator to the penthouse so in the end we just switched back to a regular suite on the 7th floor. The envelope seemed to be short on breakfast coupons but they gave us a lot more when I pointed it out. The cafe was very accomadating and let us use the vouchers like cash rather than one per person. We also used the spa credit, avaliabilty is ok as long as you give a day or two notice. All in all we had a very nice stay. I think the FHR deal is a steal, I was surprised to see to Plat members check in next to me and were not using the FHR program. One of the employees at the check out told me its amazing how many plat guests they get and the majority dont use the FHR program. The only reason I can think of us if you are a big gambler and expect to be comped because I think FHR rooms can not be comped.

3 Nights/2 The Suites at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay.

The hotel was booked solid, so no room upgrades available. We were on the 14th floor down the hall from one another. $120 in Breakfast credit (2 $20 certs/day) for each room that could be used at The Cafe or The Coffee Bar until 2pm. However, there was no change given for them, i.e. if you used 4 certs to pay a $65 bill, you would lose $15 in credit. Special amenity was $100 in spa credits, which we used for a $135 massage. Word to the wise...the property has 2 spas -- Spa Mandalay and The Bathhouse -- and we had to book a few days before to get an early afternoon time slot. SM was booked -- went tothe bathhouse...it was quite nice. You were free to stay and/or come and go as you please for the rest of that day only at no add'l charge. 4PM checkout given without issue. Flight was at 2pm, so not issue for me, but for guys on later flights, it was cool. Also, got front of the line/reduced cover at Mix on 64th floor of The Hotel (nice view, check it out) with room keys from The Hotel only (not FHR related).

Edit to add: Also comped in-room Wi-Fi.

Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay, CA

Upgraded to Ritz Carlton Suite with Ocean View from Standard Ocean View Room on a two night stay
50$ Breakfast and $85 Lunch credit.
After 25 stays with Ritz Carlton that was the best upgrade ever and I definitely will return to hotel, even standard rooms are great.

Skylofts at MGM Grand (3 nights)
  • Booked 1 bedroom loft for $680/night via FHR. Website had $800/night.
  • Upgraded to 2 bedroom loft at check-in
  • Daily continental breakfast for 2 ppl/day. Requested credit towards other breakfast option & given with no hassle
  • Offered 4 PM check-out but didn't use since leaving at noon
  • $100 spa credit towards treatment (can't use towards fitness room but Skyloft floor has a small room w/ treadmill

Additional amenities were complimentary transportation to & from the airport in Maybach which we enjoyed. The concierge met us at the front door & escorted us to the room where she checked us in & gave us a whole packet that included our FHR welcome letter, personalized stationary and our itinerary for the next couple of days. The concierge also arranged a breakfast for 4 people at The Mansion. Mr. Cynnamin invited two people for early breakfast meeting at The Mansion, and the guests were pretty impressed since they weren't aware of the place. Loved the place & like other people mentioned, the only downside is that it's at MGM Grand.

Wow, that's a great deal! I'll have to try this deal the next time I'm in Vegas.
