LAX is, by far, the fastest of all of the UA hubs to get through as an elite from start to finish. If there's ever a line at T6 security (which there usually isn't), the CO EliteAccess line is always empty, and they allow in UA elites. I've consistently breezed through front door to gate in 5 minutes - 10 max.
Once you know it, it's a breeze to get around.

I love my home airport. T6 is quick. UA F lounge is great and usually empty. T2 NZ lounge is great. Security is never more than 10 minutes at T2, T6, or Bradley. New Bradley *Alliance lounge is killer. I am usually in my house on the westside is less than 40 minutes from wheels down on international flights. Painless.

Can there be a bigger dump than the landside Departures area of UA's LAX terminal? The T6 so-called Premium Check-in area is thoroughly disgusting and nowhere near the level of Premium check-in found on the other side of the Pacific. Not only is there nothing special about the area itself, but it leads to a vastly understaffed security screening area that can take forever to get through. Shame on UA for having such a third world facility at a major gateway!
On a good morning I can park in lot B, take the shuttle, get through security at T6 and be at the gate in under 15 minutes with only carry on...I don't think I've ever waited longer than 10 minutes going through CI. Pretty effecient if you ask me.
Disgusted...I don't see what there is to be disgusted about. Maybe I need to slow down and take my time to look around next time.

I agree that the LAX premium checkin was a bit of a dive but having said that service was quick, the security line fast so i have no complaints.

I really don't get your complaint. I just went through ORD and JFK CI this past week and they were definitely not better. What exactly are you disgusted with in T6? Which premium check in area on the other side of the Pacific are you speaking of? I've done a lot in China...lots of glitz but not much substance. And you should see some of the domestic airports...

I actually quite like LAX. It's a bit quirky, to be sure, but a whole heap better than most UA terminals around the country.

AA's Elite section in their LAX terminal is much nicer, 'appearance-wise.' But the service is seldom good, lines are always longer, and you have to stand in another TSA line with your bag after checking in (that is not just for elites, and sometimes very long). It's much less enjoyable than T6.
LAX, as a whole, is not a great airport. It's old, and not well maintained. But I cannot say negatives about the T6 staff or wait times. They have helped me out many times. ^

I too don't know why people trash UA @ LAX so much. Unlike most, I don't even mind the RCC - I find it leagues above ORD/IAD.

Having just gone through T-6 last Friday my only complaint is that they need another TSA person at that little ID check desk. On Friday morning (7am) the line wasn't too bad but I could see issues if it got jammed. Of course, the other option is to be GS and get to go in the far right lane that avoids the little turnstiled lane on the left.

This was going to be my exact comment when I read the OP. Of every UA hub, LAX has the best set-up for rapid premium cabin check-in/security. I can't think of one time in the last couple years that I spent over 10 minutes total for the whole process. AA's F/EXP checkin at LAX is a much less efficient.
I too don't know why people trash UA @ LAX so much. Unlike most, I don't even mind the RCC - I find it leagues above ORD/IAD.

This was between 2p and 3p on a Thursday and Friday respectively. While the security line of the Friday moved more quickly, it still took 20-minutes to get to the head of it. On the Thursday, it took almost 45-minutes...I know because there were not a few 1Ks who grumbled about how bad the situation was.
As for the general appearance, and my original reason for starting this thread, the UA premium check-in area is more like a barn than an area to great and help your best customers. While I don't expect the same situation as one would find at HKG or SIN or other Asian airports for premium customers (elites and full fare paying Cs and Fs), I do expect something better than a cattle holding area. I make my comments as a STARGold and not just as a lowly UAPremier.

Elite security line in LAX T-6???
What happened to the former-great elite security line in LAX terminal 6? Monday at 7am I walked--as usual--into the empty lane next to the wall, and was ushered by an attendant into the center lane, along with a bunch of elites and FC/BC. We were all grumbling, when i saw that the regular line was oh-so-much shorter. I said, "Bet I beatcha" to my fellow elites and moved under the ribbon into the regular line, where I went right up to the x-ray station. I beat them all by a mile.
Was this a one-off, or has the elite line gone bad or gone missing?

Coming in from T-6, all lanes are elite lanes. At 6 AM Monday, it all worked fine for us. You were probably just in a lane where the machine wasn't running.

Ahhh...but they are now streaming people from T7 into the same scanners, so only thing "elite" about it is walking down the red stripe in the carpet.

It was a real fiasco on Sunday. Total anarchy while the TSA just looked on.
Pretty much the same thing on Sunday.
For some reason no one was moving to the elite line and TSA was putting everyone together. I followed another guy around the poles and moved up pretty far. I think other people figured it out or followed behind and the line filled up rather quickly.

So why not go to the regular T6 security, which is often faster
than the "elite" security at T6 that funnels you into T7?
