Good god, UA catering is utterly pathetic.

UA 40
EWR -> FCO
777-300ER
Seat 3A

PDB (sparkling or water) offered after we settled in. The EWR-based crew was AMAZING. Attentive, friendly, glass was always full, attendants were frequently visible throughout the cabin. However, the meal is the same old, same old. I hesitate to post because the choices just don't seem to change. The beef was solid, pink in the middle and the sauce nice. Overall, a fine meal with fine proportions (and honestly, much larger than the 3" chicken piece on LH MUC-SFO). I was satisfied after the meal. Didn't have the mid-flight snack. Breakfast was the same old, too (egg white or cold plate). Where they could really improve is the presentation...it's just lackluster.

Beef option with warmed roll, decent salad and soft enough dessert.

Absolutely loved the new amenities kit itself (content is fine).

I can tell you that pre-COVID on most of my monthly EWR - APAC routes I received really good service -- even my picky Japanese wife (why don't we take NH) likes it -- however -- on the EU flights it was honestly more hit and (mostly) miss... I don't really eat on UA flights any more but tomorrow I'm on LHR-EWR - after a really nice GF BAH-LHR flight where I WILL eat and drink actual wine -- I might order the UA food just to report on it -- I'll try to skip breakfast in the LHR UC but they do make a mean sausage so no promises....

I've had excellent EWR-based crews.

Probably raise my body fat by a few percentages and not good for my arteries, but I crave for those British susages. That is the one item I tend to over eat whenever I visit the UK, where grew up as a teenager. The taste of sauage from the full English Breakfast from my childhood memories is just too hard to say no.

I typically would have a couple of full English Breakfast at the UC and skip the on board meals from LHR back to the US on the morning or mid-day flights.

Well - I tried to do UA_Flyer proud with these pictures but I couldnt get the light right because my controller is broken - I wasnt able to fly through LHR so I missed my proper English breakfast and sausage - so after boarding UA961 FRA-EWR they came to me first for my order and I asked for whatever was left over - which of course usually means the pasta - I tried really hard - but this is just awful..

And then the desert tray came out. There is hope!

You lucked out you were on one of the "test" flights. Otherwise, you might have gotten a TV dinner with a kitkat

Sorry to hear you miss the opportunity for English breakfast.
Thanks for the desert photos..... for a minute I almost had tears in my eyes.
I never thought I would ever see cheese plates again in the United Polaris cabin...

Seriously, what are they "testing" for serving deserts?

I am all for seeing at least some improvement, but that is a far cry from the ice cream sundae service of yore...

I believe they say they are testing for COVID safety.

In reality it is probably testing to find the absolute minimum they can get away with. It looks bad when you can get a sundae cart on an AA Domestic TCON yet only get a KitKat going to SYD on UA
