When I confirmed with her that I could change the dates, she made the comment that it would be tricky because this is a discounted fare and therefor there would be less availability. Has anyone had experience with date changes? I am assuming that you book it as soon as the calendar opens up...or at least as soon as you can.
It will be the same availability as if you booked an overpriced LON-LON DONE6 for departure this afternoon. This fare is not being treated specially.

A very interesting thread. Please post any successful experiences of starting in MPM, including any overnight visa problems.

Back to MPM issues for a minute. (I'm starting to get confused as to which thread for which issues!!)
Just got off the phone with a very nice gentleman at AA RTW desk, let's call him Mr. T. First, I note that he couldn't have been nicer.
He said that "American is not issuing" any tickets which touch Africa and have segments between Europe and Middle East in the itinerary. We reviewed the rules together; and he saw my point. Put me on hold and checked with the "tariff" desk. He agrees that it is ambiguous, but said that this is the position that AA is taking. Very apologetic. He said that there have been discussions about changing the wording in this section of the rules; and he hopes that it occurs this week since they are receiving a lot of calls on this.
Gave me the number for BA RTW desk; but they are a Monday-Friday operation.
So back to the drawing board on the itinerary, I guess.

A few years ago I had an AGLOBxx ticket with a CX sector booked / confirmed in A. Booking and ticketing was by CX. Due to an aircraft sub I ended up in Business. CX refused any compensation stating that I could be put in a lower class without compensation. I didn't fight it as it was only a short flight
No luck for me at AA. I tried to book a AONE4, MPM-DOH-CDG-LHR-DXB-LHR-MIA-LAX-HKG-LHR-xACC and was told no flight segments between Europe/Middle East if starting in Africa. Did consult with the better agents per recommendation of our former favorite AA agent Sarah. AA said that the text in 4(h) that refers to 4(e) 3.1.3 or 3.2.3 is still valid. Of course there is no 4(e) 3.1.3 or 3.2.3 any more. The agents did say to try BA or QR. The oneworld website stated that the itinerary was valid, but hangs up when trying to price it. Thoughts???

I'll post back here. If I can get an itinerary put together and approved, I'm trying to do one towards the end of this week. I'd love to know the ground setup at MPM for transfers, etc.

Just curious about your SAN-YYC. That's the AA code on Westjet? Why do that rather than book actual AA and fly in domestic F/J rather than Y?
Many of us do this every year. I've even done a second one in the same year. I almost always book about 10-11 months before my first flight, using dummy dates for every subsequent flight, and then change as the booking window opens up. Usually, D is easy to come by when booking far out. There have been occasions where D is not available (e.g., HKG-HKT or HKG-DPS or sometimes QF routes). You can waitlist for D.

Sadly for you, AA's pricing department will likely knock this back - because codeshare flights operated by non-Oneworld partners are forbidden (except for QF flights operated by JQ(JetStar)

One via an Australian travel agent - correctly priced in AUD, and I used my Australia credit to pay (ticket issued by QF)
The other via the AA ATW desk, again correctly priced in my chosen currency (AUD); I telephoned AA's Sydney office to pay, again using my Australian credit card (this transaction has yet to go through - AA ticketing has not yet issued my ticket). No issues were raised with getting it priced in my chosen currency and paying in Australia.

Breaking: The nonsense in Para 4(h) about "the backtracking provisions in Para 4(e) 3.1.3.or 3.2.3." is being removed!
The QF filed fare rule is already updated. 4(h) line about *segments between Europe and Middle East are not permitted if... - no longer exists!
4(e)3 (Intercontinental departure/arrivals) has been rewritten/clarified too. It now reads:
Each member airline files their *ONEx fares - copies of each other of course - but it takes time for all of them to go in. QF is usually first and their rules are already filed. oneworld.com not updated yet. Haven't looked for any other changes.
Discuss!
