So you didn't get your IC amenity and you also received nada for using the secret word?

That happened to me once last year and it was sad.

The desk agent knew about the word and was excited that I used it. Explained that I would receive something special on top of my IC amenity.

Nothing arrived.

I find it really awkward and greedy to ask about the amenity and it is sometimes delivered later in the evening so I didn't say anything until checkout.

When mentioning it at checkout in the very early morning, the desk agent said it was because my in touch number was not in the reservation (impossible since I was recognized as IC at check-in and it also does not explain the lack of love for saying the secret word.) He apologized and said that he would tell a supervisor once they got in and that they would be contacting me.

Nope. Didn't happen.

From a property standpoint, this is the only time that Kimpton let me down since I started shifting stays from the big chains.

Should have written that a bit more clear, I did receive the "extra" wine, it was handed to me at check in. I was confused by the front desk agents response. I have used the password many times and haven't had any mention of already giving me an amenity.

Also, was offered breakfast and a couple of items they had on hand in lieu of a welcome amenity. Couldn't use the breakfast, but was a nice and much appreciated gesture.

I was at the Monaco in San Francisco over the weekend and recited the secret word at check-in. The clerk told me, "With your Inner Circle upgrade and amenities, I'm not sure what else we can do for you."

I chatted up the front-desk supervisor at wine hour the next day and brought up the exchange. She was apologetic and gave me a $15 minibar credit (on top of Raid the Bar) and an in-room movie credit.

That's been my experience on a couple occasions, that when mentioned upon check-in, the benefit becomes the room upgrade, which I think they would have given me anyway. Overall, the agents are now usually excited when I mention the secret word, and have something specific for it. This wasn't the case early on, but hey, welcome gift, raid the bar, free wine hour, sometime upgrade...no complaints! ^

My cousin reports $50 restaurant credit offered at the Hotel Palomar Chicago last weekend for using the Summer of Karma phrase that pays.

Not sure what I got. Had VIP service at the restaurant (extra food, etc). And over abundance of goodies for my amenity. All based on the secret word and the front desk agent stating we'll take care of you. It was a great stay (See my new review) and I don't think I could have asked for anything else. That being said, I can't point to a specific "it" that I received. Absolutely no complaints though.

Does "all" include questions not answered here in the threads?

Hi thegrailer,

I should probably clarify; that was a bit of hyperbole on my part. It's only an hour chat about the new program, so it can't obviously incorporate "all" questions. But we invite you to ask general questions about Karma Rewards (as opposed to personal, or specific issues).

I apologize if I haven't gotten to all of the questions on this board. Is there something specific I've missed? Let me know and I'll get back to you soon.

I love the secret word, but if I don't have a specific request in mind, and the front desk folks aren't forthcoming about what options are even possible, the "what do you want" piece can a little weird/awkward for me. I had a stretch of 3 different Kimpton Hotels in the past few weeks where I used the word (Vintage in Seattle, Eventi in NYC, Marlowe in Cambridge). At the Vintage and Marlowe, the exchanges were pretty awkward since I didn't have a car, already had breakfast plans, already had an IC upgrade & amenity, etc. At the Vintage I got a bottle of wine, which was fine. I didn't end up getting anything at the Marlowe (front desk person basically just said call down if you think of something you want...). Eventi in NYC they offered a $25 dining credit which was great -- was the thing that motivated me to eat dinner at their restaurant for the first time. If I had known that was an option, that's what I would have asked for at the Vintage...

Offered drinks at the bar or wine. I asked for free parking and they knocked the valet rate $53 to the day rate of $20. I'll take $33 over anything else.
