Checked into the Vintage Park in Seattle last night and received complimentary parking. An improvement over my last visit, where I received a 50% discount on parking.

Vintage Park in Seattle is definitely on my "least favorite" Kimpton hotels list. Glad to hear that you got an "improvement" over your last stay!

I agree wholeheartedly re: least favorite. Room size is small compared to other Kimpton properties. The bathrooms are incredibly tiny, at least in the corner king rooms where I have twice been upgraded. I do appreciate the fact that they make up a small gift bag for my dog when we visit.

A top-to-bottom renovation began on Monday. The chief concierge said the lobby/living room area would be done by February and the rooms should be finished by the end of April.

That sounds more like a bottom-to-top renovation ;-)

Are they doing anything about the gross entrance that requires guests to walk through the parking garage?

December Password Recap:

Ink48 - Two continental breakfast vouchers
Monaco Philly - Free Breakfast (up to $50)
Wilshire - Valet
La Jolla - Valet
Solomar SD - Two continental breakfasts. Valet as well, but I think this may have been due to IC status, restaurant renovation, and already 50% off valet through AAA.

I've never driven to a Kimpton hotel. For the places comping parking, I wonder if they offer parking first and then something else if you don't have a car?

We usually don't have a car either. Since you have to pay for parking at most Kimpton's - they know if you have a car or not when you check in. If no car, they offer some other goody.

Sugarplum feedback?

Hi everyone,

After a Flyertalk hiatus (we've been very busy behind the scenes ... it should be an exciting summer!), we're back. It's been fun reading what you all enjoyed using the secret social password. Is there anything we can answer for you?

Happy New Year!

Cheers,

Sort of funny secret word story. I checked into the Palomar San Francisco (I love this hotel) and gave the word. The person checking me looked confused and asked someone else at the front desk what they could do for me. After a few clicks, the manager or supervisor person said (I paraphrase): "You know, we've already upgraded you to the deluxe suite, and set up your Inner Circle amenities, so I'm not sure what else we can do..." I told them not to worry about it then.

So, no extra for me, but I was still thrilled. They gave me one of the nicest suites in the hotel and got my amenities request exact. And by exact I mean every little detail. Funny how the happiest I've been with the secret word program was the time I got nothing! Kudos to them!

We were asked to pick our offer out of a grab bag when checking into the Hotel Palomar in Philadelphia last night. My wife pulled a ticket for a free glass of champagne.

You can always suggest drink tickets! I have had the same experience at certain properties..."We've already upgraded you, not sure what else we can do..." while others will give a drink or continental breakfast voucher.

I must say that the hotels that seemed to do the "secret word" the best (imo) were the Hotel Palomar in Phoenix and Alexis in Seattle. They were prepared, gave a ready-made gift, and gave options. This is such a creative way to get people involved! Plus it makes a person feel somewhat "special."

I have 4 drink coupons left from recent trip. They were not dated. I am hoping that they will be honored at a different hotel, at a future stay. do they regularly hand these out??
