I asked again at the front desk this morning and was told again that the secret word expired December 31. I said that social media said that it was valid until March. The woman said that she didn't know anything about social media but offered me a in-room movie, which I declined. I did say that they should at least change their own Facebook page.

I also got the secret word is expired rap at a different location and was told it was only valid during "winter" but that they would make an exception...I said thank you so much and accepted the offer.

Clearly someone is anxious for spring!

Kimpton secret password thread

Monaco baltimore- got the "not sure what else we can do response" and was offered a 1pm late check out- should already get that with IC and left early anyway. Would have been more than happy with a movie, food credit or parking discount. Oh well, was worth a shot I guess...

Man, I really don't like the "I don't know what else we can really do" response. They should have a plan for what to say/do if the person is IC. I got that response a fair amount when they first started doing the word and I would just think, well, I have no idea what the universe of options is so I don't know either? Now I'm prepared for it and know what the options are so I can suggest something I'd want if they seem puzzled because I'm an IC.

Did have a bit of a miss on the secret word last week at the Eventi. I asked for a bottle of wine, he said sure, and then even called me 15 minutes later to ask what kind. After about an hour, it still hadn't arrived, so I went out to get some dinner. It never arrived... Not the end of the world, but still.

When I checked in at The Brice this past weekend, I just asked for free valet parking for using the secret password. No pushback from the front desk, although initially, only the first night was free. I asked for the second night off at checkout and it was quickly waived.

I didn't mention the secret word at the past 5 or 6 hotels I was at, just because I was on business and didn't really have time to take advantage of anything anyways.

Here at Hotel Monaco Philadelphia they simply asked what I wanted -- easily obtained a $25 credit for breakfast.

Asked for and received a food credit at the Palomar DC when I was checking in; the amount wasn't specified. It turned out to be $75 (three night stay).

At The Monaco in San Francisco - restaurant closed for renovation (they provide pastry and fruit and juice in lobby gratis); nice check in clerk got me a $25 Starbucks gift card.

At The Goodland in Santa Barbara ( actually Goleta) I got a $50 restaurant credit.
