SFO Airport Connecting Questions
Hi Guys,
It’s my first time connecting at SFO (intl flight to intl flight) and had a few questions regarding transferring terminals and times! I’ll be arriving on an intl flight into Terminal A and connecting to my next intl flight in Terminal G. However, I need to go to Terminal 2 to meet someone. 1. Can I easily go to Terminal 2 from Terminal A without re-clearing any security? How long would this take approximately? 2. Can I go easily from Terminal 2 to Terminal G without re-clearing any security? How long would this take approximately? Thanks! |
Hey flyer!
1. It will require you to exit Int'A and re-enter security to reach T2. If you have TSA Pre, I'd say about 20 minutes? If not, then I'd probably make an allowance of about 30 - 40 minutes? It varies depending on the security queue and could easily be longer during busier times or if you're unlucky to go through when TSA is training a newbie x-ray operator. 2. Yes! T2 and Int'l G are connected airside! The stroll from T2 to the G gates is probably 15 min? Assuming you disembark in Int'l A (preclearance), just exit and walk all the way down to hall and go through security at Int'G; then, just go down the escalator and make your way to T2. |

SFO Flight Connections During APEC
I have a couple of UA flights with 90 minute connections at SFO on the 14th and 16th which happens to be during the APEC event. Not leaving the airport, going into town, so that isn't a concern. Short of an Air Force-One traffic halt which is always a cluster (haad a 2 hour tarmac delay at LAX once while Clinton had his special haircut), are there any considerations or concerns I should have? I could always move my flights to connect in DEN, but have nice 787 flights in J to/from IAD that I rather not swap for 737s to DEN.

I don't expect much out of the ordinary except for possible ATC issues during ops of dignitary aircraft.

Thanks! I'll keep a weather eye on the horizon. However, I prefer to call these Pineapple Express, never went for the sensational press A.R. terminology meant to spook the herd ;-)

I did have a bad feeling about this...

So long as you know which direction to look (i.e., the wrong horizon won't be helpful) :p
Annnnddd...the cluster happened: 2 hr tarmac hold while the AF1/Biden circus and auto parade happened just before we pushed back, but right after the door closed and jetway retracted. Oh well, thats twice for me :-( On the bright side it was nice to see a TG 359 tail parked at SFO; gave me hope that one day they would schedule flights here...dream on fool... Cheers, -Cyborg |
Arrived into Terminal G a bit over a week ago. At immigration there was a line next to the Mobile Passport line that was labeled as "EC" in a circle. Everyone in that line was holding a large laminated card with the EC logo and "Express Connection" on them (think similar to the ones they use for Pre-Check, but unlike the Pre ones they all looked brand new!). Based on details on a few of the boarding passes I was able to see them also holding, at least some of them were due to depart within the next hour.
I know that LAX has had this program for years for people with short connections, but I hadn't heard/seen it at SFO before last week. At least one of the immigration officers seemed confused by it, and kept asking why we were in two lines, and stating (to everyone and nobody at the same time) that we should all be in a single line - not sure if that's an indication that the MPC and EC lines were supposed to be a single line, or if he was just outright confused. Given there were 2 lines, the same immigration staff were basically just alternating between the two lines. |
When does the final connector open that will allow post security terminal transfers from Harvey milk to terminal 2 open?

Some advice from the experts please! Flying AA out of T1 around 2:30 pm. Is it only the T1 Admirals Club available or are any others easily accessible airside currently? I don’t think the international terminal lounges will be open by then. Is the virgin lounge still accessible to Amex platinum?

Don't know about the VS lounge access directly with Amex Plat, but it is also listed as a PP lounge. |
