Probably could place bets on when they'll actually be done.

Oh, duh  my brain knows that's going on, on the outside, but didn't connect that with where the checkpoint is inside :o

Will be landing at Terminal A and want to get to Terminal F and then the BART. Is there a foot path across from A to F or will I need to walk past each terminal?

Once you are landside at A, you can walk straight across to G where BART is (or continue to the landside portion of F if that is in fact what you want)

Perfect. Thank you!

Hello

QQ - LAX-SFO-LHR (Delta & Virgin) - I have a layover of six hours, is that enough time to drive to Union Square?

Alternatively I have access to the Centurion Lounge and Virgin Clubhouse via Amex Platinum - after arriving with Delta at T2, can I walk to T3 to the Centurion Lounge (either pre/post security) and from there later to the International terminal?

I think opening times require lounge hopping…

Thanks

You'll see in that thread, Duck1981, that six hours is in the range where many of us locals would suggest staying at SFO and wandering the terminals. Lots of interesting stuff there, and you have two good lounge options in Centurion and Virgin Atlantic (the latter being much better, IMO).

If you do want to go to Union Square (Powell station), I suggest BART in both directions. It's much more predictable and reliable than subjecting yourself to traffic conditions in S.F.

I'd definitely not drive to/from Union Square - especially on a weekday afternoon. Getting out of there could be unpleasant. I'd actually pass the time as follows: After arrival, go to the DL lounge, as it appears that you should also have access. It is a lovely space. Perhaps have a snack and/or a beverage, perhaps not. Then, walk to the D pier of T2, where there's usually a decent exhibit on the left side of the walkway out to the gates. Then, you can turn around and go to T3 (all airside) and head to the AX lounge, where you may find a line, and you may find immediate admission to an overcrowded lounge. You may or may not want to wait and/or stay. There are some decent spirits / cocktail choices although the food hasn't been inspiring in years.

And now comes your conundrum - do you now go landside to go to over to the VS lounge? Do you walk out to the far gates in T3 to see what other exhibits might be in the long walkway out there? Do you go through the airside passage to the International "G" gates and see what is percolating over there? Or do you head back to the DL lounge because it was pleasant, and you didn't really enjoy the AX lounge (either because you didn't wait, or it was overcrowded.)? Whatever you choose, you'll eventually need to go landside, which I suggest doing in the Int'l G area, where you'll also find some exhibits in the landside area near the security checkpoint side. There are also exhibits over on the A side, which is your security checkpoint for VS, in addition to an Aviation Library and Museum (check hours for that one). And when you eventually make it through there, I suggest walking over to the new part of T1 (B gates) which is dedicated to Harvey Milk, and has its own exhibits. (No need to walk down the bulk of the B pier for anything). After this point, you can go to the VS lounge and relax! Or you can go to VS first, have some F&B, and then enjoy some more exhibits, and return to VS.

Just note that what once was a short walk (DL to VS) can no longer be accomplished in the "short walk" direction due to construction. That is why Ms. Julie McCoy specifically selected your itinerary direction above.

I'm flying from SFO on Thursday late night from International Terminal G and I have access to lounges for Priority Pass and Plaza Premium from Venture X but they are all in International Terminal A. It appears that it is not possible to go from G to A airside. Has anyone tried to go to A first for lounges and then G for an international flight? Will it be okay to go through security twice? Trying to figure out how much time to budget for this.

Do you have Clear, PreCheck or a premium cabin ticket that gives you access to the priority line?

My "worst-case" estimates for when you need to get through G as you approach boarding time:

Clear + PreCheck: 15 minutes
PreCheck: 20 minutes
Premium line: 25 minutes
Regular line: 35 minutes

I think it's likely that it will take significantly less time than the above, but that's how I would plan.

Yes, I've done it. I wouldn't bother without Precheck. It's only worth it if you can get into VS lounge. AF/KL lounge sucks and BA only open for Priority Pass in the morning.

Concur. And I like the restaurants in G (at least pre-pandemic). If OP is short on cash then maybe hit the free PP restaurants in terminal F and walk to G (assuming not an Amex PP membership). The walk may be 15-20 min but no worries about delays at security.

Right now at SFO, I think the only lounge on par with Virgin is Polaris, and even there I like Virgin better for its smaller and more tranquil environment.

Did this finally reopen? Website says it's open, but I remember it being closed each time I passed by there in the past couple years, although the last time was a few months ago.
