80 min connecting flight SFO

Hi,

I just got my flight from HND-LAX canceld with UA. I have been rebooked with HND-SFO-LAX with a connection 80 min in SFO. I have all the flight with United. Arriving internatinalTerminal 1 departure domestic terminal 3.
is this doable?
do I need to recheck luggage if same airline and same ticket?

Hi. How long would it take to walk from Terminal 3 to International Garage A? More than 15 minutes? I would not do it airside because want to pee my dog outside of Terminal 3. Gate irrelevant because it would be from that area to the garage. Can I walk into international and then cross and enter the garage? Thanks!

Very simple. Probably 10 minutes. You can walk airside or landside from 3 to the international G area, and if airside, just leave the secured area and walk across through the main International Hall to the A side parking.

Just to be clear, you'd have to go back indoors at T3, after which you can then walk landside to G and across the International Hall to A. I don't believe there's any way to access the International Terminal from T3 without using the indoors passageways (airside or landside).

About to pull the trigger on a fare. It does have a connection in SFO of 63 minutes.

UA domestic (likely regional) to international.

Is this doable?

Definitely - your longest hike is approx 20min, but most will be shorter. Keep in mind flight
arrivals are sometimes delayed by fog, so it’s not a huge margin for error…

Midnight layover

I’m arriving around 1am before flying out again at 5.30am. Apart from finding a quiet bench to rest, are there other options? Eg any lounges open?

Delta and American open at 4:30 am. https://www.flysfo.com/passengers/sh...-relax/lounges

Sorry to say that I doubt you'll see any restaurants open before 4:30. SFO is open all night, but it gets very quiet after 1am.

I think I know the answer, but I always appreciate FT wisdom. UA just had a schedule change and I went from having a 3:04 layover to a 2:24 layover.

NH F -> UA domestic F (SFO-DEN)

Separate tickets.

Global Entry.

No checked baggage.

All good?

Should be fine. If there's a delay, I'll bet you could talk your way on to the next DEN flight, even though it's a separate ticket, given it's a Star Alliance partner.

Figured if it's looking ugly, I can SDC from the plane coming from HND.

United has something like six flights per day to DEN, so unless you're booked on the last one, it shouldn't be any biggie if you have an unusually long delay on arrival.

It's the second to last one of the night. I arrive 16:25 and depart 18:49. There is another flight at 20:27. So, a little flexibility, but not as much as a morning arrival obviously.

Worst case, United's "flat tire" rule would apply, where they will move you to the next available flight as long as you make it to the check-in counter no more than 2 hours after departure of your original flight. Odds are you'd end up in economy rather than F though...

However it's going to take a delay on the inbound to need that - GE + no bags + F on the connecting flight (thus Priority security) makes this an easy connection if you're even close to-time.
