There currently isn't any airside way to get between G and A (a gap remains between B and C) so the easiest way is to walk through the Int'l Terminal (landside).

Looking for some FT SFO Gurus

I am wondering if this flight combination is possible or is it too risky
United LAX - SFO 6am departure, 730am arrival (2 hour layover)
Singapore Airlines SFO - SIN 930am departure

All booked separately. They should be able to check my luggage all the way thru to Singapore but wondering if that 2 hour layover is sufficient for domestic to international flight
Any insight would be much appreciated

Plenty of time if bag checked through assuming normal ops. UA - SQ all within same airside area - maximum possible walk maybe 15 to 20 minutes. That said, if weather is iffy, the short hops are the first to be delayed. That that said, 6am departure shouldn't be an issue if the plane isn't broken.

I am 1000% risk averse

With the crazy weather patterns , possible fog and as others have mentioned potential delays and short haul flights if there is a weather issue or other issue, I would not be comfortable unless I flew in the night before TBH.

I agree with both of you. It shouldn't be a problem, yet I would still fly in the night before. There's no margin for error or time to rebook if the UA flight is significantly delayed or cancelled.

International to Domestic Help

Hi all, new account created specifically for this trip (apologies if this is against TOS).

I'm (UK citizen, no globalentry etc) flying out to Seattle early next year, from LHR to SEA via SFO (hence posting in this thread) and a return via JFK.

I'm flying with Virgin Atlantic to SFO then onwards with Delta. I'll be travelling in Upper Class/International Business and then Domestic First with all the benefits that provides (I think that includes priority TSA?).
From my limited research, Virgin tends to arrive in International A, and Delta generally departs from B/C gates (currently best accessed through T3 and the airside link). I'm aware that I'll go through immigration at SFO and then need to pass through TSA at SFO (Which I'll probably do at T3). My current plan is to clear immigration, baggage reclaim, find a recheck somewhere, then take the skytrain from International to T3 and clear security that way, then walk to the gates airside. I think I've got about 2 1/2 hours in-between flights.

I've a number of questions that I'd appreciate insight on. If further information is needed I'd be happy to provide.

1. Will baggage be checked through from LHR to SEA or do I need to reclaim?
1 a. In the event that baggage is not checked through, where is baggage recheck located? Maps I've seen point towards a recheck station somewhere in the 'connecting flights' exit from baggage reclaim. Would you recommend alternatives like the Check-in Desks?
2. Is my plan so far the best/most realistic plan? What would you recommend otherwise?
3. Does anyone have specific directions between baggage reclaim and getting on my connecting flight (How to get from baggage reclaim to the Skytrain for example)?
4. How much time am I looking at having spare if all goes well, and more importantly is that time for a quick drink in the Skyclub?

Thanks in advance!

You'll claim your bags at SFO and drop them at recheck after you clear customs.

Not sure why you would go to T3, DL departs from what is now called T2. You could walk after exiting international (you'll arrive in A), but the route is circuitous and I'd suggest just taking the Airtrain (blue line from A or red line from G). The signage is pretty clear and SFO's an easy airport.

Thanks, yeah, realised it's T2 not T3. Getting a bit mixed up between the international terminal and Terminal 1 in my mental map.

Does a transit from International to Domestic take long in SFO?

Not compared to LHR :D

From exiting customs to security in T2 shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes. Security wait time is highly variable.

OP mentioned First Class on Delta, so the Priority line will help a bit.

seattlethrowaway, at T2 look for the Priority line -- not TSA PreCheck and not Clear. (Note that there is no First/Business/Economy distinction for TSA PreCheck.) It probably won't be more than 20 minutes.

Just wanted to confirm, coming in Alaska on D gate and connecting to CI out of intl A, I'd have to re-clear security?

I usually go United in C to a intl G departure so this will be new.

Maybe in a year or two you'll be able stay airside via a C-B corridor, but that's still under construction. And last I checked, you can't even walk landside between C and B. You must take the AirTrain, which you can get at the mezzanine level in D. Take the Red Line two stops to International-A.

(There is a way to go down and through the domestic parking lot, but I don't recommend that for someone unfamiliar with SFO.)

I didn't take a close close look recently, but I think you can walk out to the center island (hotel and parking shuttles) and walk landside that way - just have to be careful when crossing the roadway letting cars in/out between the terminal side and center island side.
