The physical lounge is nice enough but the food is pathetic, particularly the buffet. I'd rate numerous SkyClubs ahead for food. IMO it certainly doesn't compare to the QF F lounge at LAX, which is probably the best lounge in the US, or various other top US lounges (including several of the OW JFK lounges).
I actually prefer MLL at SFO (though they have the showers closed, so you'll have to go to Polaris for a shower). |

SFO CONNECTION: So we have a major trip coming up end of the month. Taking a positioning flight to SFO from PSP to make a Fiji Airways flight to Nadi for a huge milestone anniversary. Got the FJ J tix using AS miles and it was tough to get them. Fretted about going day before because we cannot miss the FJ flight! However that flight to Nadi does not leave until 11:30 pm. So with 28L (I think that’s the correct one) runway still closed, do you think I am covered by my plan:
1. 7:00 am flight AS PSP to SFO, arrive 8:30, day room (booked) Grand Hyatt. This is same day departure as the Fiji flight which departs 11:30 pm. 2. If that flight failed (has happened before to us on this same AS flight), booked a backup on Southwest PSP to Oakland 10:40 am arrive 12:20. Safety in that it goes to Oakland, can easily get to SFO from there. while there are later flights, because this trip is so important to us and because those Fiji flights in J were SO hard to snag on miles, don’t want to be dinking around. We have seen in the past weeks some dominoes with AS on some flights in and out of SFO itself that have impacted the entire West Coast flight schedule, and the dominoes because of SFO limitations and the winter that won’t end in CA. Our final backup to these backups would be driving to LAX and flying to San Jose instead because there are tons of flights there. Am I covered? TIA |

Forgot to add, there are other flights from PSP that day but few direct.

Was just wondering what the minimum connection time you guys would feel comfortable with for a MNL->YVR flight with a layover in SFO. Flight from MNL to SFO is on United, SFO to YVR is on AC. Unfortunately, I have bags, but I have NEXUS and will be flying J.
Thanks *Edit - All one ticket |

Thanks *Edit - All one ticket ETA: Looks like 1:45 is your MCT. That's pretty sensible, anything less is risky. |

You should budget 45 minutes for bag delivery. Then you'll need to get to T2 for your AC flight, about 10-15 minutes to get there. Does NEXUS get precheck? If so, I'd say 90 minutes is bare minimum, 2 hours would be reasonably comfortable. Not the end of the world if you miss.

Thanks, 1:45 is actually the layover time for my flight, I was thinking of pushing it back to 3:30 just to be safe.

Be safe. My last (and only in many years) SFO UA arrival was at an A gate and the bags took about 2 hours, with no real UA staffing. Lots of int'l-int'l misconnects.
Note there typically 8 nonstops a day SFO-YVR between AC and UA, and OP will be arriving in the early morning from MNL. I wouldn't really worry that much about a miss. OP will have both Polaris and MLL access, so plenty to do if he opts for the longer connection. |
Folks, I just did a major edit of the wiki. Please feel free to check my work and make any corrections and additions.

Thank you. I added a link to the FlyerTalk thread for The Club SFO.
