My Coke Rewards in 2009
January 28, 2009 07:25 PM EST

As many of you know, how you earn and spend points were two of the topics we discussed a lot over the past year.

2009 is bringing some new changes to both these areas, with your feedback playing a role. You can find more detail in the News section but here's a quick re-cap:

HOW YOU SPEND POINTS: We've added to the program so you will have lots of choices on how you spend your points
- Rewards
- Sweepstakes
- Instant Win
- Support A Good Cause
- My Coke Rewards for Schools
- MCRPointsPlus (ALL NEW)

MCRPointsPlus is a new way to spend your points so you can reduce the cost of purchasing items including travel, shopping and more by redeeming your points and then paying the balance.

Plus, we want to make sure you get rewarded easily and more often so all of our rewards will now be under 2000 points so you don't have to wait months or even years to spend your points on something you want.

POINT EARNING: Several of you shared that you usually save up the codes you've earned from purchasing or drinking throughout the week, and come in on one or two days to enter them. And, that's why you find the 10 code limit per day frustrating. We've decided to change to a weekly code limit of 120 points per week so you can enter the codes when you want, all week long. The best part is that any Bonus Points you might earn like, double points days, refer-a-friend bonuses and others won't count towards this limit.

:td: The program king of devaluation strikes again with the ridiculous 120 points per week limit. Previously, one could enter 10 codes per day for a minimum of 30 points per day or 210 points per week. Now we can only enter 120 points per week. Tell me again, MyCr*pRewards, how this is not frustrating.

WHAT THE === ???? 10 x 3 points = 30 point daily limit x 7 days = 210 points for a 7 day week ... What "enhancement is a LIMIT of only 120 points TOTAL per week? And have you see the crap offered for 2,000 points and under that's there now?

Coke management must have hired on jerk Delta mangrers that got the dump because of the coming merger . . .

Is it finally time to dump Coke and all its products from our shopping lists?

I -wondered- why the Avis free day, which had been 1345 or so, and gone up to 2480, has dropped back down to 2000. The 2000 max prize point level explains it. I will take this point level drop with some happiness, though.

Now as to the 120 points a week, that does not thrill me. Between that and the Live.com "enhancement" to only allow 1 "lifetime" redemption of each FF mile prize level -per family-, these two ideas have got to be some of the worst I have heard.
Remember in "1984" by Orwell: the rallies to thank Big Brother for increasing the ration of chocolate to 20gm, when actually it had been cut from 30 to 20.

If you can't play by the rules, don't play at all. If you don't like the rules, walk away. Nobody is forcing you to participate, and acting in unethical ways by gaming the system only hurts those of us who are content to follow the Terms and Conditions to which we all agreed when we signed up.

Don't like it? Don't play it.

Past Double Points Days

Has MCR ever doubled points for 20-point or 50-point codes?

I've been sitting on many of these for months, but I'm inclined to enter all of them but a few spares before this new "enhancement" takes place. Under the new rules, one will only be able to enter three 20-point codes if they were to ever double them in the future.

Red Alert!

Priority Club points were here earlier today (about 4pm Eastern Time), but are totally gone from the rewards, and even removed from "favorites". It is 12:08am Eastern Time.
Any news?
We went to add the last few points to 156, and it was GONE!
Is this some new "enhancement" for February????!

Do you and your family really drink that much Coke?

Remember, the goal is to sell more Coke. Getting points from other sources is not the intent of the program.

You play your way, I'll play mine; I'll walk away when I'm completely out of codes which will be when others stop giving me the codes at work; I've already stopped buying the product a long time ago

I know this wasn't at me but 120 points a week can be had in a day, meaning getting that many codes. If cokes intent were really only what you drink then they would limit this to like 50 points a week.. I'm not sure anyone that isn't in cokes marketing group can say the Intent without being there unless this thread is the supreme court of the mcr world here to interpret cokes intent

I just went to check and the Priority Club points rewards are gone! I had entered some points yesterday evening and cashed out 156 points for an award. I'm glad I did not procrastinate! But perhaps they'll reappear?

vickiburton Feb 1, 2009 8:25 am

I'm boiling over finding the Priority Club option gone this morning. That was about the last thing left that interested me at all and I was impatiently waiting for a new month to redeem for some more.

I'm sure that the "new" premiums are just going to be retreads of the stuff to which we've been turning our noses up.

I guess I'll print some coke coupons before that's gone, too.
