BRG works fine
I will be staying in Berlin and Luebeck for 10 days in December , and i have a BRG approved for all the 8 hotels i'm staying, so for me it works great, for hotels in Eurozone and USA at least where you have a lot of webpages in that currency, for hotels in small countries BRG it's not that easier to use

Just got the BRG for the Radisson Celebration Resort near Disney World in Kissimmee. Radisson rate was $96; Kayak Rate was $64. They adjusted it down to $48 for 5 nights. Plus they are waiving the $15/nt resort fee since I'm Gold Elite Level.

I've had success with the BRG.
Yesterday, I booked a Jr. Suite w/breakfast in JNB at a rate of 13,427.00 ZAR (tax inc.) for 5 nights total. I found the same room w/breakfast at a lower rate on booking.com for 10,300.00 ZAR (tax inc.)
My claim was approved and my new rate is now 7725.00 ZAE (tax inc.) ^

Yes, it works!
I made a new reservation, and managed to get the BRG work for for me.
It's one third of the original rate... so I'm happy.

I must admit I'm speechless.
The first claim I made was denied again on the basis of the billing currency. I disagree, but I can see their point.
The second reservation was finally denied yesterday. Here's what I got from "Monique , Online Customer Support Specialist":
The rate is of course still there. So she ignored the screen shots she asked me to send, ignored what's available on-line, and denied the claim on the basis of not being able to locate the rate that I'm seeing on several web sites for two weeks now.
My recommendation to readers of this thread to to stop wasting your time with the Club Carlson BRG, they do not mean it.
For the record, I'm a CC gold member, not that this should have made any difference.

BRG for Expedia/Hotels.com mobile exclusive rates?
Hi,
Did anyone try a BRG with a cheaper rate that is only available if you book through a mobile app? In this case: Hotels.com and Expedia are both showing very cheap rates w/ breakfast inclusive as a "Mobile exclusive". I cannot find the same rate on a real website. Would a screenshot of the mobile app be enough to convince them?
Thx,
Stef

Another claim unjustifiably denied
Another claim was denied today because
This particular hotel does not have King Guest Rooms, and the lower rate I found was for a standard room. I've sent back screen shots, but I'm not optimistic.
Shuly
the rate found on ... is showing the lowest rate of ... is for a King
Guest Room, which differs from the Queen Guest Room as you have booked

Success! Thanks to the information on this thread and on the subject of Club Carlson BRG. Radisson Blu Waterfront, Stockholm. Expedia was 10% off from same rates as clubcarlson.com, another 15% off = 23,5% discount

Claim denied because taxes included in rate on competing website
Booked rate of $159 +$24.74 taxes on Radisson.com
Found rate of $99 including taxes on hotelopia.com (pre-tax rate not quoted)
Claim denied on following basis:
and following a second email
I suppose they are suggesting that the hotelopia.com room rate could be $160/night and that they are charging negative $61 in taxes and therefore the hotelopia rate before taxes could be higher than the Radisson.com room rate
Result: Reservation at Radisson LAX cancelled and will stay somewhere else
Found rate of $99 including taxes on hotelopia.com (pre-tax rate not quoted)
Claim denied on following basis:
Although we did find the rate you have mentioned, there is no way to
deduce the exact room rate per night when taxes are included in one of
the rates and not the other

The Best Rate Guarantee is compared to your Average Nightly Rate prior
to taxes. As www.hotelopia.com includes taxes in their rate, there is no
way to deduce how much taxes are for their rate.

Someone at Radisson is shooting themselves in the foot with their BRG policy and the way it is implemented.

This is ill-minded. You did the wrong thing by cancelling Radisson and book another hotel!

Another claim denied - Just cancel your LPG already CC
Here's the response from CC:
So, they denied the claim because their own cancellation policy was much more strict than that of Expedia. I thought the point of the LPG was to encourage customers to book via your own website? How would this encourage anyone to do so?
Really CC, if you're just going to find reasons to deny every claim, just cancel your LPG policy. It's just causing bad blood with your customers.
Although we did find the rate you have mentioned, we have found the
cancellation policies are different.
The cancellation policy of the reservation you have booked is
non-refundable. Our cancellation policy states that penalty applies to
all cancellations.
The cancellation policy on www.expedia.com states:
?Cancellations or changes made after 4:00 PM (Eastern Daylight Time (US
& Canada)) on August 03 are subject to a hotel fee equal to the first
night's rate plus taxes and fees.
?Cancellations or changes made after check-in on August 11 are subject
to a hotel fee equal to 100% of the total amount paid for the
reservation.

I am trying to get a BRG approved. Put in 2 claims for the same ressie over 36 hrs ago. I havent' heard back. They claim to take up to 48 hrs... so I guess they are backlogged. SPG works must faster. Im new to using Club Carlson, but this experience isn't instilling confidence. I'll report back on what they find.
I'm reporting back - they denied the request. And yes, the intermediary I supplied now shows higher rates. But they took 48 hrs to check! Guess the rates changed. 48 hrs is too long to wait.

Im a new CC customer and boy is it hard to get them to honor their best rate guarantee. I think the primary issue is that it takes them 48 hours to respond and rates at the intermediaries move fast if you're booking close in to your stay. I think they should up their response time to 24 hours. This would give us a fair chance to nab their guarantee. It's amazing at 25% off, but if you can never get it it's worthless. I'd even trade the 24 hr response time and they can lower the % a bit.
However, I found a way around their slow response times! I found an intermiedary (Booking.com) that allows you to cancel up until 4pm the day of your stay! So take the whole 48 hours Radisson, I'm ready for ya!!
First I booked another room direct with Radisson. I paid 471.60 Euro. See pic:
Then I booked a the exact same room for the exact same dates in the exact same currency via Booking.com and submitted a best claim guarantee. And yes, both rooms include breakfast. But via Booking.com, this only cost me 419.90 Euro (see pic).
So I followed all your rules Radisson, but this time I booked both (so if they deny me again at least I have the lower rate and don't miss out like last time). C'mon, Radisson, this should entitle me to 25% off.
