Are those prices offerd for upgrades generated by humans or computers? The trip in Y Got-Doh-Bkk-Doh-Got had a price of 5100 SEK. Just saying....

SIN->DOH - Offered prior to check in and during check in a 1669 SGD upgrade to business (995 GBP/1200 USD).

But I don't blame QR for trying. The free market of QR passengers will determine whether the price is reasonable or ridiculous. The answer may cause QR to change its pricing behavior. Or it might not.

So if they would have offered you the upgrade for letīs say 200 GBP, you maybe would have taken it and they would have made 200 GPB.
But they offered a ridiculous price, so you did not take it, you got it for free then and they did make 0 GBP - thatīs revenue management ;-)

I made sure I drunk enough champagne to compensate my cash outlay of 0.
But I was very happy and it makes it easy for me to choose QR.
Problem I have found is that we quickly get used to the upgrade. CX used to upgrade quite consistently if you were Emerald with a low BN number. Having enjoyed so many upgrades over the years, I was mightily disappointed on the occasion I was not upgraded (actually I was upset, which is silly when you consider I have not paid for the C ticket) - That and they introduced PE, which means that upgrades lost their value to me.

You are right, my personal appetite would go up to 300GBP.
I made sure I drunk enough champagne to compensate my cash outlay of 0.

Perhaps the email was referring to the muscat to Doha flight since QR considers premium class on intra-gulf routes as First and not Business
