Apologies i totally forgot to screenshot the actual price but i had upgrade offers Y-J on the LHR-DOH on QR2 and DOH-LHR on QR9 this month both were over £1100. Outbound was in W class and inbound in T class.

If you're asking about the likelihood of receiving an UG offer, I think that several factors may be at play. Given the anecdotal evidence we have thus far, the booking class does not seem to make a difference. Some people get the offer, others don't. How that choice is made is not something that we are aware of.
Seat maps are not a reliable indicator of the J load factor. I don't know what EF means by "blocked".

Put it this way: $1200 can buy you a few hours of comfort inside an airplane, or a night in a nice hotel + massage + nice dinner + whatever on the ground. I feel you can get a lot more bang for that buck.
I can think of at least one situation when I would consider it: if I have a specific need to arrive well rested and I fly A-DOH-B, where one of the legs is long and the other is relatively short (say less than 7 hours), then upgrading the long segment would get me to my destination considerably better rested and I may be able to justify that expense.
As I've said upthread, UGs are now more expensive than before: you pay more and get less (e.g. no more lounge access).

Hey, I am about to book QR Y DOH-PRG using Avios and wonder if award tickets get upgrade offer by email? As far as I understand I can buy upgrade at the airport too if email won't show up (this is not really premium heavy route). Just curious if anyone knows what the price is about? Anything about €400 is fine.

My friend and I are traveling on the same flight: QR285 DOH EVN; I booked flexi, she booked saver.
We both received offers 6 days ahead of the flight. Her upgrade was QR1475 (360euro) and mine was QR1511 (369euro)! Also, I'm QRPC Gold and she's Silver.

BEY-DOH flying out on the 24th of April. Ticket is a redemption of miles, I'm Gold, received an OLCI offer (not email) for USD 580 Y->F (technically it's J, sold and marketed as F) - which is insane, considering roundtrip tickets in F routinely go on sale for a little over USD 1200, including mileage, QPoints, lounge access and baggage allowance. What the hell, QR?!
