It looks like a hard product at least competitive with the ME3+TK -- a real step forwards.

How is anyone finding out which aircraft you are scheduled to fly in the 72-48 hr window?

I'm not sure if there's any method specific to ET that works well.

In general I use flight radar 24 (examples below) . Some airlines just don't seem to decide and/or publish which specific aircraft will be used until extremely close to departure.
example below ET501 tomorrow shows aircraft type,, but not a specific frame yet

ET makes their final decisions on frame allocation literally at the last minute. You will get a nearly final list around 4pm Addis Ababa time on the day of flight, but is subject to change all the way through actual departure time (not even boarding time is safe - I've boarded a bus and been driven to an aircraft, only for it to be swapped to a different frame and been driven to that one instead).

Flightradar is useless for this as they normally use OAG data for their schedules information while ET has data exchange using Innovata/Cirium through SABRE. Hence they won't actually get the data until an ADS-B receiver picks up the transponder information. Slight difference in EASA airspace as Eurocontrol CFMU data is also available to flightradar so possibly slightly longer lead times there.

True, but I would think ET has a plethora of planes in ORD or IAD, where it flies once a day,

Just flew 787-8 yesterday ADD-ZNZ-JRO. This was the ET-ARF. It was downright DISGUSTING. The center console was discolored and there was visible dirt and dust in crevices. I wiped down everything with sanitizing wipes and the wipe was black after I wiped down the headrest. The plane appears to be 6 years old, so not sure why it's in such horrible shape.

Here's the question - I'm due to fly 787-8 ADD-DUB-ORD (ET 574) in 2 weeks. Do they fly planes in better shapes on long haul flights? I looked up the flight history on flight radar 24 and they recently flew some older 787-8 on this route as well (ET-ARE, ET-AOU, ET-AOQ). Did anyone fly this route, and did you have the same sanitary issue as what I experienced on ET-ARF?

I'm answering my own question Our ADD-DUB-ORD flight was on ET-ASI, which is one of the lie-flat 788. The hard product was once again disgusting. Pictures are below.

This trip was our first (and likely last, if I can help it) time flying Ethiopian. I've read some reviews before booking the trip, and never once came across anything mentioning these issues. This plane is 5 years old, so I'm not sure how the condition could be this bad and why nobody else mentioned it before.

The flight attendants definitely noticed me frantically wiping down everything with sanitizing wipes and didn't say anything. They actually came up to offer me champagne while I was doing it

This is a good thread, if a bit dis-heartening!

Fiancé and I will fly GRU-ADD in June.

It sounds like it's a crapshoot if it's a flatbed or angled.
On this route/sector length, does ET use a certain subset of their 787s on the route?

Wiki update was last in November, and changes since then?

Yes. The ET-AT* aircraft with the lie-flat seats (and RR engines) will not be used on this route. Only the GEnx powered 788s are used transatlantic.

Thank you B747-437B Booked two tickets in early June.
I'll be happy with a recliner (set those expectations low!).

Zero chance of getting the only plane left with recliners on the GRU route. The 767 is pretty much used only to turnaround destinations, and occasionally to day stop destinations in West Africa.

The power of low exceptions!

(really, I should have been clear and said 'angled lie flat' instead of 'recliner')
Trying to book 2J/L if the website would work.

Looking forward to a bunch more ET flights this summer.

Had same issue.
ET agent said they needed ET Ticket # and some internal ET code I'd never heard of. Never worked.

I booked the GRU-ADD with LifeMiles, so did it all on the LifeMiles site.
