I'm thinking there must be one or two people who registered a bunch of fake handles in the past, and preserved them in order to flame anonymously for use in any future flamefests. We recently saw one fake handle banned ("D'uh"); I think the user who usurped my identity and left bad feedback for dovster could possess a number of fake handles. I would advise the technicians to compare IP's, and find duplicate IP's wherever possible. It's likely that members who have numerous accounts from the same IP are trolling - unless you are talking about your wife or husband/S.O. or a family member who is also a member. That's not uncommon. Also, consider who has, in the past, maintained multiple handles, especially from before it was "outlawed".

You are correct anonplz. 25% more users than any time in the past month. And some hours after your post they are still in the high 900s and have been there at all times, and it is not even evening yet for most USA folks.

And with the greatest of respect - IMHO anyone that says this reputation thing is not driving this, is living in Fantasyland. :D)

And we were confidently assured FlyerTalkers did not give a "Rat's Bottom" about "Reputation" points? ;)

This Forum alone has had very many 1000s of page views in the past day or so - on threads about nothing else.

You're overlooking the large number of "guests", which have no visibility to "reputation".

Unlike the situation of those with hurt feelings -- I fall into that category a little bit -- the situation you describe constitutes a blatant violation of the Terms of Service.

I know dovster is a free-speech kind of guy, even with many of those on the Left, but in this case I hope he will turn over or report the "evidence" to the appropriate authority.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken the Talkmail was sent to everyone with an account on the board, and with people not reading their office mail till mondays it's pretty easy to understand where so many people are coming from.

I think removing the anonymous dinging was a good move.

Are banned users allowed to ding?

I got a ding from a user I could have sworn was banned.

PremEx Apr 26, 2004 8:53 pm

Okay. All my dingthingies are showing now, but I don't see anywhere where it reveals just who sent 'em (unless they manually signed in the comment field, of course). Did that feature get turned off before I had a chance to see it, for some reason? Anyone know if it'll be coming back?

So then who are all these members/lurkers pushing the reputation thread views to 10, 12, 15,000 views in a matter of days, 4,000 views alone on "bling. ding. dong." just since it was created on Friday?

Just to the left of the comments column is the "sender" column.

I just looked and it is still active.

It's a LOT of members constntly reading the thread and anxiously awaiting new replies. Even the WAT in Omni has 5 times more views than posts...

PremEx Apr 26, 2004 9:11 pm

CameraGuy...I just hit it again and all I have is "Thread" "Date" "Comment"

Anybody have any idea why I'm not getting the "Sender" column?

UAX@SFO Apr 26, 2004 9:14 pm

Maybe I'm just being dense (or wayyy too busy lately) - but I'm not understanding how this bling ding dong thingies work :) I've got one green square - and that's just fine with me - unless someone thinks otherwise.

Anyhoo, my two EQM's I guess :p

Happy Travels! :)
