IMHO this has been badly botched. It is like being half pregnant.

So those cowards that signed away other Flyertalkers names (mine included) on totally fake and nasty "reputation" comments left to others are now off scot free if they are not in the past 10.

Hope Dan is able to turn on all past dings, or IMO the entire exercise is a botched mess, and the idiots who caused the problems are not being caught with just past 10 revealed.

No where in this message did I see that it was going to display all feedback to the beginning of time.

For the record, the previous record for active users at one time was, I believe, 758 on the day of the transition, April 2.

When I posted above just 10 minutes ago, the record was set at that time, 935. 5 mintues later, 958. Now, 963. We're going to hit 1000 active users today because of this unimportant feature.

Conspiracy Theory #3

I think Randy & Co did this on purpose as a way to cheaply stress test the new server cluster.

I agree. The post said that it would affect all historical reputation "hits" It did not say that they would be displaying every single hit (positive or negative or neutral) that everyone has received.

Perhaps that request is something that can be taken up between Randy and/or his tech team and the parties that were involved with the "fake ID" tagging off-line instead of repeatedly posting the same request and/or complaint? (I am NOT saying that Punki and others don't have valid arguments for wanting to know who allegedly dinged or blinged someone in their name.)

Really? How many definitions of the word "ALL" can you supply? ;)

Or perhaps the definition of the word "Monday" is the one troubling you? :D

As emailed from Flyertalk Admin: (Any bolding is mine)

As of Monday, we will be switching the setting that allows for anonymity. Once the setting is switched, users will be able to see exactly who gave or took away reputation points - and here's the really big news, the switch will retroactively impact all reputation messages, meaning anonymity will disappear from all reputations given prior to Monday as well. Randy has always said, everyone on FT is responsible for everything they post, and this decision has been made to reflect that principle.

So, if you feel guilt about anything you have sent anonymously, you have the weekend to rectify the situation.

Should make for an interesting weekend :)

I seriously doubt we are getting 500 more users than normal because of this, I suspect FT is mentioned somewhere on the net or in the media...

No time was mentioned as to when it would be activated and it hasn't been this busy all day.

Or perhaps people should realize that repution doesn't mean anything, and that ever second used by the tech team tracking down stuff like this is a second that could be spent on something productive? @:-)

And more than half the users are "guests" that wouldn't know (or care) about reputation...

I think it's probably because of a few core posters who view the replies to their posts, which increases the # of view?

Bling ;)

Indeed. 448 REGISTERED users is pretty normal, I bet Randy was on CNN again :)

I would have like to know that the ID fraud will be dealt with... Or maybe it has been? I've noticed a couple 'banned' ex members, and I know there are other reasons for at least one of those, but... @:-)

All reputation I've received prior to today is attributed. I can only see the last 10. Nowhere did anyone on staff say you could see more than the last 5, 10, 50 or 100.

Given that you disdain reputation so much, why are you so worried about it?

Next topic?
