No triple play for me, just the daily double.

FewMiles. Apparently one of the people who used the feature more when it was still anonymous...

You may want to "weigh in" with your thoughts on this thread Anon.

It's a free country. No skin off my nose.

I have to disagree. Many of us used the feature when it was anonymous -- myself included. I don't think it is fair to single out FewMiles for this.

(If you think I am being prejudiced in his favor, I'll reveal that he dinged me on a post that I made. That was his right and I see nothing wrong in it -- any more than I see anything wrong in the dings I made.)

FewMiles..

Well, FewMiles, now you know how it feels.

And maybe that is the best response to the (formerly) anonymous snipe you took at me.

FewMiles Apr 28, 2004 12:14 am

Well, Counsellor, it is one thing for me to ding you anonymously knowing full well that it would be revealed the next day. Believe me, that was a conscious decision on my part. :)

It is quite different when a so-called legend trots out his other two personalities and uses it to boost up the effects of dinging. For what it's worth, I was not the only target of this. There were several triple plays and a daily double or two.

FewMiles..

Indeed. Unless it's fraudulent, 'A ding is just a ding'.

@:-) A bong, on the other hand,... :)

I know, and that's why, when I found out it was you, I was puzzled as to why you did it. :)

And (without changing my opinion that anonymous sniping is per se cowardly and despicable) I agree that it is not even in the same league as using second and third identities in a vendetta, or (worse still) signing other folks' handles to dings.

FewMiles..

And I think I can guess who some of them were. Is there anything we can do, do you think, to undo the poisonous effect of this on the victims?

What's do the different color boxes mean?

I just looked at it for the first time in a while & noticed that there are different color boxes - I tried searching this thread, but the search function wouldn't cooperate. What do the different colors mean?

Thanks!

If you see a red box, somebody "Dinged" you, i.e, didn't approve of your post for whatever reason.
If you see a green box, you've been "Blinged" which means someone approved of you, your post, etc.
If you see a grey box, it could be either a Ding or a Bling. It was issued by someone who didn't have enough reputation points to influence your reputation one way or the other. Only way to tell their intentions with the grey box is if they left a comment.

It is quite different when a so-called legend trots out his other two personalities and uses it to boost up the effects of dinging.
It is also quite "different" when someone elects to anonymously ding a totally friendly post by a person with whom they have never had any interaction whatsoever, just because they don't like that person's partner.

And it is even more "different" when someone makes an anonymous ding and signs someone else's name. :(

Thanks for the explanation, Cholula! Hmm...now why would someone ever want to ding me? ;)

He went nuts trying to pronounce your user name?
