Cost to re-route DONE4

Thanks to all the amazing help on this board, I have a partially used DONE4 ex-GIB ticketed by BA ^

I now need to re-route the remaining flights. Please can anyone who has done this recently tell me what BA will charge me? Thanks.

I think it is $125 USD...but what sort of re-route are you doing? Change of continent may affect the tkt price...This is what the fare rules say:

Rebooking/Rerouting
Prior to departure
Unlimited changes permitted without charge
After departure
Date/time changes permitted at no charge. Routing changes other than to date/time permitted at a charge of USD125.00 per
transaction.
If the rerouting results in a change to the number of continents or extra flight segments charged, standard rerouting procedures
apply. The ticket shall be recalculated based on the new itinerary. Tickets may be reissued to/from a 3, 4, 5 or 6 continent journey.
Any increase in fare will be collected and any decrease will be refunded in the form of an MCO for refund in the country of sale.
Any applicable change fee penalty will apply.
In the case of certified death/illness of the passenger or passengers immediate family member or accompanying passenger
voluntary rerouting is permitted free.

I used the tkt desk at LHR T4, and the guy there was fantastic! Even converted a paper ticket into e-ticket!

Good luck.

Indeed, so consider getting another OW airline to do the reissue - then it will only cost you $125, unless it is QF (or CX in HKG (only so far I believe)) who also charge service fees. AA is probably a good bet, but they'll probably only do it if you have sectors still to fly with them. AA has the additional advantage that, reputedly, they are less likely to charge you for any fuel taxes that have increased since you did the original issue.

I only have BA and CX flights left so will probably reissue with BA. Does anyone know what their additional service fee is?

It was US$50 last time I did a reissue with BA at SEA. But I suspect it's optional with the station/office.

Normally GBP25 or the local equivalent. CX don't charge a service fee (except in HK) as far as I know; they also sometimes adopt a "more trouble than it's worth" attitude to working out what, if any, additional charge or refund is due on the taxes. Remember that if you are flying from LHR you will get done for the increased UK departure tax.

BA in AMS charged me a service fee of around 30 euros IIRC on top of the $125.

Thank you all. I'll post here when I know what it's costing me.

I have a silly question...

if I have a DONEx that was ticketed by AA, and is electronic, and partway through I want to make changes, can I just call AA on the phone in the US and have them handle it (even if it was ticketed by, say, AA in DEL?). I understand they'll collect the fee (and I'm not trying to get around that) but it's not clear to me if that's true...and I hate to assume.

With the NW/KL RTW's I could always just call the US -- but I never ticketed one except ex-USA because they were reasonable enough in price a couple of years ago ($6,000 for 25,000 miles).

Thanks!

Yes, provided that the ticket is properly set up electronically when it was issued. Normally that is guaranteed, but DEL might be a problem. Also are you aware of the luxury tax in India which adds a huge amount (12%?) to the cost of any ticket in F or J issued in India? Makes a DEL issued ticket quite a bit more expensive. Makes the UK APD seem rather small by comparison -- and look at all the whining about that on FT!

I wasn't aware of the luxury tax in the front of my brain, no. But the DEL/BOM RTW for a DONE3 is $5400, so that only takes the base up to ~$6,000. I think, in Asia, only NRT is less (at roughly $5,400). But for that $600, if I understand correctly, I gain the ability (after April 1) to use NRT as a transit stop between Europe and India. If I ticket my DONE2 ex-NRT, if I understand the rules correctly, I can't transit Japan between Europe and Asia because I will have touched my 'home soil' and can't leave again.

Right now, my needs are: SFO, PRG, and DEL. (And I live in SFO/SJC).

So I'm picturing DEL-HKG-SFO/SFO-LAX-LHR-PRG/PRG-LHR-DEL as the "core" routing.

From there I would see what works for a little extra mileage, or just plain old alternatives on the dates I need to travel -- i.e., I could see LHR-DEL being LHR-NRT-DEL or LHR-BKK-HKG-DEL if need be.

Steve

Here are links to a couple of threads that discuss the new tax:

True. The main reason I've not been considering that is because it means that you are forced to fly the HKG/SIN-CMB and then 'back out' on every cycle. Essentially, it means adding a day to the journey. At that point, I should just go AONE4 ex-MRU
