Thank you pbd456. See here:
I see in EF that QF hasn't yet updated their prices (nor has AB, RJ, JJ . . .) so before I argue with the AA RTW desk and try to get my AUD4.8k back I thought I'd give Qantas a go.
After a further 20 minutes on hold the agent returned to the call saying her supervisor and another staff member are trying to price it manually. I'm currently overseas. The cost of calling QF on Skype is AUD0.11 a minute. I've been on the phone 1h46m. At this rate, it will end up being cheaper just to originate in Australia!
I got in on a DONE5 ex-MPM apparently within a few hours of it going up. The reservation was put on hold on AA and in my account it showed a total cost of AUD48xx. I've logged into my account now and the price has been increased to AUD9282.
Can AA do this with a reservation on hold?

Good luck!
Let me see - the fare difference between ex-MPM and ex-Australia is X; $0.11 per minute, so that means if your call exceeds Y minutes, it would have been cheaper to buy in Australia. Too hard.

He also told me that he thinks there is an ex-SEZ fare that may be similar to the ex-mpm fare. I am waiting for a price quote from BA to confirm and will report back.
I am also about to get on the phone an try my luck with QR. Any recommendations on which desk to call? Or am I just calling the U.S.A 1-800 number?

Progress. The agents have priced it manually but they are unable to find D or L availability on DOH-CMN-DOH so they have dropped those two sectors out of the itinerary completely. ExpertFlyer shows D9 and L9 so I've no idea what QF is on about. (QF and QR are far from friends so maybe QR is limiting availability to QF.)
The upside is it has priced at what it should: AUD4546.20. In fact, it's AUD300 cheaper than what AA quoted which seems totally bizarre.
The agent also now seems to accept that my routing is valid and has accepted that if QR opens up availability (which, in my opinion, will be as simple as phoning AA to make the change once it's ticketed), then USD125 will be the charge and Bob's your uncle (ie. all is good).
Qantas is holding the fare for me for 24 hours. I confirmed, twice, that the fare was locked in. Yes, I know. I should not procrastinate. My issue is Qantas won't charge me in USD which is where my funds are at the moment. But I guess I can't have everything.
Haha. That equation would be almost as complex to work out as the fare rules itself.

I misread...you are talking to Quantas. I was on the phone with them for over an hour yesterday. I gave them the same itinerary as AA and they priced it at $30,000. Can someone please tell me the most capable office to call to do this?

Your DOH-CMN-DOH problem could be the problem I had with my CMN-xDOH-OSL flights in January this year.
QR has some weird married-segment logic. The way around it is to have stopovers in DOH - so for me CMN-DOH and DOH OSL were fine whereas CMN-xDOH-OSL was not.

You are brave giving QR a go - I and others gave up on them in the past - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/24224478-post1.html

According to ExperFlyer there are no Oneworld ATW fares from The Seychelles.

As I just mentioned, they quoted me $30,000 yesterday. Any idea why they got that number? Do you have a certain amount of segments on the OW carrier that you are booking through?

AA priced it, but you are talking to a QF agent?
