I’m looking more at bi-weekly numbers than the daily ones and for the fall/post summer-vacation period in the aggregate.

Swedish reporting of Covid-19 deaths continue to pour out in lumps and be more lumpy than Denmark, so taking daily numbers from the center in Sweden for just a handful of recent days may provide a less representative look than a biweekly or aggregate seasonal look.

Finland’s death numbers tend to be the least procedurally lumpy of the continental Nordic countries.

My (unqualified) guess is that Søren Brostrøm, the Director General of the Danish Health Authority (direktør for Sundhedsstyrelsen), is familiar with those (infection) numbers as well. Hopefully! From a newsletter this morning:

Smittetallene er steget ganske meget de seneste uger, og derfor mener Sundhedsstyrelsens direktør, Søren Brostrøm, at det er på tide at genindføre coronapasset.
I noticed an update to the coronapas app the other day and figured something was up. Got my booster shot yesterday, so maybe time to look into how to get my coronapas updated accordingly.

It looks to me that Sweden is still worse with deaths on a per capital basis for this post-summer vacation period than Finland, but Finland isn’t a fairy tale either since people went back to work/school after summer vacation. Denmark probably benefits from being further away — in so many ways — from Russia than Finland is when it comes to Covid-19-related dynamics. Denmark’s Covid-19 deaths haven’t spiked up charts the way that has happened in Finland, although Denmark is up with deaths from the yearly valley bottom as is Sweden.

The return of the coronapas appears to be widespread within EU. I apologize for the link being Apple News.

Does ABBA have the coronapas in mind too? ;)

Sweden has stopped testing so there's no way to know the real situation there.

So apparently Mette Fredriksen posted on Instagram that she expects it "to be necessary to have initiatives that can break chains of infection." She didn't mention anything concrete, but any idea/rumors coming from the Danish press other than covid passports? I have booked NYE in Copenhagen, so not too sure if I should look at alternatives...

Having a "plan B" is always advisable.

It's my impression coronapas comes first and mask wearing comes last, with stuff such as hygiene and social distancing in between.

It's my guess coronapas in the broad sense will still include say the American CDC card. In the narrow sense, here's something to watch out for (confirmed to me by the official coronapas support), which is that, for now, the Danish (not EU) display will show only the two most recent shots:

Fejl i coronapas app: Viser ikke 3. stik

Update: the app is now showing all vaccinations.

Thank you! Regarding coronapas, has there been any suggestion that the validity of the post-vaccination certificate may be reduced? I know Austria has reduced it from 12 months after second dose to 9 months only, thereby "encouraging" people to take up the booster. This may potentially become a nightmare for many.

As far as I can tell, Denmark is fine with the 12 months following the two shots for people younger than 65 years of age. For people 65-84 and those vulnerable, you're encouraged get the third shot if it's been 6 months and two weeks since your second shot.

“Coronapasses” are again going to be legally required for various venues in Denmark starting on Friday. Courtesy of the Danish parliament.

Will you get a chance to put your CDC card to good use soon? :)

Meanwhile, more than 3000 have been infected during the most recent 24 hours, the highest since December 23 of last year. Nearly 5000 have gotten a first shot during those same 24 hours, the highest in more than two months. 86% of all eligible people in Denmark are now fully vaccinated.

Apparently, there are also talks about making it necessary to show a coronapas to enter the workplace in the future.

How will this work for foreigners who can't get a coronapas account since we can't get a NemID? Will they accept the EUDCC from another country's app, such as the German or Swiss apps?

Edit... I just used the coronapas scanner feature on the code in the German app, and it recognized it so I think I will be good.

I haven’t tried the Scan function as my Danish coronapas was digital to begin with. But once you’re logged in on the app, you can switch to the EU display at the upper right corner of the screen, and it’s my impression it’s that way for any EU country’s app.

Now being inspired by the Scan function and the EU Digital COVID Certificate, maybe I should look up the QR code for my CDC card in California’s Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record online system and see how the Danish coronapas likes it!
