I thought they even killed off the booze bus activities, although who knows if the bus operators even do much about that other than post a sign about that.

The politicians’ yes to restrictions at this time has been met with some criticism.
According to Jes Søgaard, research director and professor of health economics at the University of Southern Denmark, the government and the health authorities should have anticipated the emergence of a new variant and done more to increase the capacity of Danish hospitals. In that way, one might have prevented us from ending up in a situation with further restrictions in the form of, among other things, a closure of nightlife and large parts of cultural life as well as an assembly ceiling at indoor events, and where the government proposes the treatment guarantee suspended, critics say. https://www.berlingske.dk/politik/re...r-at-overhoere |
There is a limited capacity in Denmark to scale up health care capacity. And even if scaling up capacity without consideration for the costs of major capital investments in the sector, reality soon hits
that scaling up is limited by staffing constraints/costs and not just the ability and willingness to allocate a lot of additional capital for fixed investments in the healthcare sector. Sogaard seems to live in a theoretical economic utopia where resources are unlimited. Funny for an economist in a world where scarcity and resource constraints are a fact of life and inherently a part of what things cost and what goes on with availability. |

Self-tests are also sold out in Sweden. While the government encourages me to get tested (I have symptoms), it's close to impossible, except from commercial testing sites but those explicitly state they are not intended for symptomatic patients.

Now that the government has come under pressure with Omicron exploding, things are suddenly moving quickly. Just recently, the booster shot cutoff was lowered to 40 years, and already now it’s 18 years, keeping in place the minimum of 140 days since the second shot.
Meanwhile in November, the Danish health authorities turned down an offer of an extra 200,000 PCR tests a day, doubling the capacity. But now per the news starting tomorrow, the PCR and antigen capacity will be increased to 500,000 and from January 7 to 700,000. 🎵 And it’s a hard, and it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard It’s a hard snow’s a-going to fall 🎵 ❄️🎄 :) |
Denmark is going to put back in a testing requirement for most "personal" visits to Denmark by US citizens too. 48 hour antigen test or 72 hour PCR test. This goes into effect on December 27th and stays at least initially until January 17th.
I believe I'm going to still be exempted from testing requirements on the same grounds as previously in Denmark, but I have a habit of getting tested way more frequently than required by hosting countries. How is mask availability at retailers in Denmark? In Sweden, it seems to be harder to find masks now than at this time last year. |

Where? I've seen full shelves of masks in several pharmacies today during my hunt for
For example, one of the Danish stores that are at various places in Sweden used to stack masks even well into this past summer, but they either stopped doing so or ran low/out of supplies. |
That's possible since virtually no one uses them, so why stock them.

It’s an everyday Monday, the day after Saturday and Sunday, 1. and 2. Christmas day, and it’s precisely one year ago Danes first got a shot of the Covid vaccine. Back then, we probably didn’t expect many being infected now, 11 million shots later. It’s been a tough year!
