OK, so I open a checking account tomorrow, Dec. 31. Of course the reward posts in 2010. Is that a calendar year 2009 event, or CY 2010? In other words, is there any point in making a special effort to open the account tomorrow?

Thx.....

Checked the miles paperwork when I got home and sure enough the 6 month requirement is right there on the receipt for the 10000 miles on the personal account. The business acct however has no such requirement listed (at least that I can find) Ill probably take my chances in closing it after the miles post. Worst case, If they try to charge me a fee for it, Ill have to complain a little bit since my daily spend goes to a chase card.

If your planing on opening account soon, then do it tomorrow, and then in 4-6 months try opening other account, if you wait til jan 2, then your done for the 2010 year, only 1 try compare to 2 try's on dec 31

real issue at hand.
mrs. opened up a personal and business acct. today with both certificates.she came home and the papers stated she will be getting 15k for each account(she had a seprate paper for each acct),no mention of the 10k for just opening the acct..
I had this same problem in November (wrote about it a few pages back), because the banker only gave me one tracking number, when I set up my account and not two like everyone else received. The good news is that both the 10,000 and the 12,500 did post in early December without having to fight for the miles.

Open Account at Any Branch?

Does it matter whether you open an account near your home, or can it be near work or anywhere else in your state?

Sorry for asking such a stupid question, but it's been awhile since I did bricks and mortar banking.

how long has it been taking for the miles to post to CO one pass from when you opened the acct? How about the second bonus miles once we use it 5 times etc?

I opened the business checking account and funded it with $500 coins on 11/4. First debit card transaction was made on 11/9. 10,000 bonus miles were posted on 11/12. 12,500 bonus miles were posted on 12/18. I am still waiting for 2,500 bonus miles to post, as well as the Mileathon credit/miles to show up as a result of opening the CO debit card.

I applied for a personal checking account on Dec 10th and 22500 miles were posted. However, today when I try to apply another one, the coupon code only gives an offer of only 10000 miles.
Anyone has a similar experience with me?

Which link did you use? The new link in OP is still good for 25K miles till 3/31/10.

https://www.chase.com/index.jsp?pg_n..._Consumer_9938

It's easy to get up to 25,000 bonus miles!

* Get 10,000 bonus miles when you open a Chase CheckingSM account and make 5 debit card purchases or set up direct deposit1
* Get another 15,000 bonus miles2 after your first qualifying purchase3 if you open a Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card (annual fee applies)4

Make sure you know the bonus is for ONE account of each type (personal and business count as different types) per CALENDAR year.

So when you applied one on Dec 10, and then tried to apply another one on Dec 31, unless you are applying for another person or a different type of account, you will NOT receive your bonus miles.

Anyway, as 2009 is now history, you can apply for a new account. Same for me, although I am wondering if I should wait until the promo like Mileathon again to stack on more bonus miles. Anyone knows how often CO has promo like Mileathon?

My wife and I have a joint checking account at chase. Can we both reply independently to the CO offer, and get separate individual checking accounts?

bd

Just opened my first account on 12/31.

Yes. Make sure you link your new checking account to your Onepass account, and her checking account to her Onepass account, as they will definitely match names on the accounts. Then you can redeem tickets in whatever name you want. You just cannot pool all the miles into the same Onepass account.

No branches in North Carolina. Can I open an account by phone?

There seem to be no Chase branches in NC; at least not anywhere near RDU. Can I open an account by phone? I've seen several people ask the same question, e.g. can you do it without going into a branch, but no answers.

It would be a shame to miss out on such a great deal.
