That letter and my personal ID was all I showed them to open my business account.

I went down to my branch with my EIN letter I printed off the IRS web site.

A printout of the coupon from https://www.chase.com/index.jsp?pg_n..._Business_9898

A printout of the coupon from https://www.chase.com/index.jsp?pg_n..._Consumer_9939 for the personal account.

And $600 cash ($100 for the personal and $500 for the business)

The Chase business account was opened as a "Sole Proprietorship". The rep said "Oh, good, those are easy to set up, with an EIN I thought it would be a corporation". She asked me for a business license. I said I don't have one. She said "let me check what you need...... and consulted her system. Then she said, oh, it says here an EIN alone is just fine.... WAMU would have never allowed that but it looks like that is all you need for Chase.

It was all very easy. Any chit chat questions about my "business" I answered from the perspective of if I were freelance consulting in my customary line of work, which I would do if I had any clients. That I have no clients is not relevant to opening the account.

Very nice^

I opened my checking account on 10/17. 10k and 12.5k tranches appeared in my OnePass account in mid-November, backdated to 11/6. The last 2.5k appeared today dated 12/16.

Now I just have to get Mileathon to notice that I've gotten a debit card.

I opened both personal and biz checking accts. So far I got 10K in late November. Then on 12/10, both a 10K and 12.5K posted. I can't tell which set is for the biz acct (or personal acct for that matter). Also, I'm not sure why the first posting only has the 10K, but the second set includes both the 10K and 12.5K. I probably need to wait a few more weeks to have everything post.

Is it possible to get this bonus if you already received a cash bonus during the year?

Official rules say no, but other posts had positive experience.

I also had a cash bonus with a personal account early in the year and did not try to get the CO bonus miles (I did opened a business account for the miles though). I am just waiting for 14 more days and hopeful for the 2010 promotion to come again for the miles.

I just noticed that the existing links have been extended until March 31st, 2010 with the wording that indicates one personal and one business promo per calendar year

Also indicates that the $25 personal debit card qualifies for the second 15K miles.

January 1st, we all score again

^ 50K miles secured for 2010. I am wondering (without crystal-ball) if CO will do Mileathon again next year. That way I will secure at least 5K miles bonus for the two new accounts.

(Alright... I know it's now time to control my greed.)

Yes, they did spend a few minutes asking me about my "business", so you gotta be prepared. Lasted about 5 minutes, asking me what, when, how, how much, where, and why.
They had a 1-2 page form that they go through. It allows them to select the best business checking account for your needs... But I guess you can simply tell them you want the Business Classic checking account (per the offer).

I don't really have a business, I just sell stuff on the web now and then, so I based my business on that.

The question I have is: what do you tell them when you close the account (after receiving the 50,000 CO miles) and what do you tell them when you try to open the same two accounts a couple of months later for the new promotion?

The truth my good man ... I already told them that I am opening the account for the miles nothing more and nothing less. Thus far got 22.5k miles added to my CONT account. I also told them that in case my CONT Chase cc won't be approved I will be opening another checking account with a dc (after Jan. 1st) as I need another 25k to reach that 160k and a free premium seat on EVA.

I emailed them through my online account to cancel my personal one. I assume I will be able to do the same for my biz. one.

Does anyone have a telephone number of a banker or hotline I can call to open an account because I am in a state that doesn't have any branches? Thanks.

I've been reading the fine print and it mentions qualifying purchases without the use of a pin. Does that mean that you shouldn't use a pin when making purchases? I'm going to open a account tomorrow and then one on Jan 2.

Yes, I did ask them about that and basically, you have to use your debit card as a credit card, for example at the store.
If the machine asks you for a pin, just hit "cancel" and it will go through the process as a credit card type transaction.
