With the more stringent policy Chase has had regarding card churning, I would want more than 30K miles to open a card that may prevent me from opening other Chase card(s) within the next 6 months... The 100K BA, 50K UA and 60K or 80K PC pts are all better offers than the CO's.

For what it's worth, our bank suggested when we signed up in December, that we sign up for Chase Better Banking Checking. The printout we got says that to avoid the monthly fee, it requires either $5,000 in "combined average balances in qualifying deposits" OR "maintain $1,500 or more in this account" OR "link to a qualifying checking account." Not sure what that last one is; the bold one is what we're going for.
We each made 5 debit purchases in our accounts to get the miles last month (which have posted all but the last 2,500) and we're supposed to be charged the same $25 annual fee, but my wife called the bank yesterday to double-check that there would be no monthly fee this month, even if we didn't use the debit card five times, as long as we had $1500 in the account. They said that was true.
My wife pointed out that the second page of the print-out said "Personal account products, Chase checking... beginning February 8, 2011... blah blah," need $500 DD or five purchases, "otherwise $6," with no mention that keeping a minimum balance would avoid the monthly fee.
The person said those rules only applied to "Chase checking" but not to what we had, "Chase Better Banking Checking."
Not sure. I'll believe it when I see it. But for now, we're going with the assumption that letting $1500 sit in each account till we want to close them in six months will eliminate the monthly fees. Does anyone have experience with that actually being correct?

me thinks my relationship with Chase may be coming to an end. I've enjoyed opening personal and biz accounts with them over the past couple of years... and getting tons of miles in the process ^

I opted for the targeted 60K Priority Club offer because it would also help me earn the CTC promo for an additional 140K points. This worth far more than the 30K CO miles.
One thing I believe there is a misunderstanding about waiting for better offers in the future - by that, I dont mean it would be a CO card. It is more a general statement of Chase future offers of any affinity cards. I am sure bushchoi means the same.

checking out the site/forums for a few weeks, just registered today.
hmmm this could annoy me. Since I don't have a local branch in my state, I called Chase in mid December and they told me I could open an account online and then covert my card on the website. After opening an account online, I attempted to convert my debit card and I was greeted with a message telling me it was unable to convert my card. I called Chase between Christmas and New Years and was then told I needed to wait 30 days after opening my account to convert my debit card to a onepass debit card.
Now, after reading this - it looks like I can't even do that?
I'm more irritated that none of the services reps would indicate to me that I was never going to be able to convert my card in time.

You are correct. I mean to wait for better offers in general, not necessarily a CO card or not even a Chase card.

It won't help you or make you feel better, but I'm sure the service reps were not in on future card offerings.

I agree! This card is next on my list for the same reason. I was not targeted for CTC and I called PC after I applied for the CO card. No regrets, just hoppe to get the the PC card before the CTC expires (have not cracked a thing yet).

I opened my account on 12/20, received the debit card on 12/27, made 7 small purchases on 12/27 and 12/28.
On 1/7, I received 12,500 showing as Continental Debit Bonus. I know from the discussion here that another 2,500 miles will show up later. But, should the other 10,000 have posted first?

Or, the coupon code was not correctly attached with the opening bonus portion but I doubt it though because usually it was the other way round.
