I just made a printscreen of the homepage of Virgin Atlantic showing my name, status and mileage. And I mailed them that I will have a number of United flights this month.

Is there a UA 3x EQM promo?

Based on my recent experience (see my post on page 63), DL is now matching to 2/2012.

I requested on 7/1, and was granted on 7/7.

"I matched my 2 year old from DL Silver to CO Silver today. Gotta love it."

Fast forward 27 years, and Gree0411 Jr. Moves from Dallas to to Newark for a new job. He emails CONited to get his Exec plat matched to plat, only to be told that status matching is a one time deal... and his dad wasted it on silver ;-)

I talked with them yesterday and they told me it's only until 2011.

2. DL only matches until GOLD. I contacted them this week, told them that I have LY Plat, LH Senator, BD Gold & BA Gold and asked for Plat. They told me no, only Gold. However, CO will give you Plat.
3. What destination do you intend to fly to/from NYC. For example - if you intend to fly BOS a lot, then opt for CO, as DL only operates regional jets on the JFK/LGA-BOS route. If you intend to fly MCO a lot then go for DL as they have flights from both LGA&JFK. If you intend to fly to PHX go for CO as DL only operates 1 daily JFK-PHX while CO operates 4 daily EWR-PHX, US 3 daily EWR-PHX & 3 daily JFK-PHX.
4. DL only matches until Feb 2011!
Thx. very helpful!

I guess convenience is typically a secondary concern for us heavy travelers... Why else do MRs etc? If one is willing to fly via NYC on way from LAX to SEA, little extra driving to get to EWR instead of JFK/LGA is a small price to pay.

I am more concerned about upgrade potential. Guess is that DL Gold is pretty oiut of luck most of time on upgrades from heave Plat airports like LGA and JFK.
CO Plat should have more luck I assume. Also longer period of status is attractive

You will have easier upgrades on CO as:
  • CO Plat is their highest status
  • DL Gold is their 3rd highest status after Plat and Diamond

If it doesn't matter whether you will fly from LGA/JFK/EWR, then go for CO.

Anyone has had success matching to LAN lately? Does the Match come with the Upgrade vouchers (if not matched to Comodoro right away) ?

Thanks. I assume you used the fax number in the first post? Did you fax your statement or just a copy of your card?

Thanks!

Hello - just a few questions:
1. If I status match to UA right now, when will the status expire?
2. To get 1K, will I have to go do another 100K or just 50K (AC*SE to UA*1P)?
Thanks,
jlisi984

1. 2/2012
2. yes.

By the way, UA might be reluctant to offer status match to another *A member.
In that case, you might need to match to another non-*A program first as "connection"

I believe your idea may not yield the result you're looking for. Typically, the airline doing the matching will also want to see a sufficient amount of previous travel, not just a quick promo that got you to the competing airlines elite status. You will need to submit last year's travel history in addition to a copy of your elite card.

That said, it never hurts; except the money you may be spending for the "temporary" elite status on US.

Good luck!
This seems inconsistent with the compilation of airline "matching" requirements at the beginning of this thread. For some it says you need only submit your membership card OR mileage report. Do all require a mileage report?

The broader question is: can one get another airline to provide silver status as a match to US Airways Silver Preferred Status obtained for the 90-day trial period? With the recent "hop, skip, and jump" promotion, for some it is also much easier to get or retain gold, platinum, or CP status on US than any other airline. Does that impact the willingness of other airlines to status match US?

AirBerlin Status Match

Hi,
Here is more info about AirBerlin status matches, which can be added to the main post.
AB will only match FTLs & SENs of Miles and More.
As a Senator of Miles and More I got the following mail in response for my status match request:

we would like to thank you for your inquiry and your interest in our topbonus Program. We have examined your request carefully and would like to offer you the following:
Enjoy the advantages of the topbonus Gold status for 4 months as a start, and the status will be extended for one more year if you collect 13,000 status miles within this period. If you accumulate 6,500 status miles or fly at least 8 times with our airline in the same period, you will get our topbonus Silver status for one year.

[explain about the benefits of Gold status...]

Have we caught your interest? We would be happy to send you your personal topbonus Card Gold per mail. You may contact the topbonus team 24 hours a day either by telephone +49 (0)1805 737 888 or by email topbonus [at] airberlin.com ([at] = @)

Even though you may not be able to qualify for the Gold- or Silver Status within 4 months, we would be delighted to continue welcoming you on board as our topbonus member.
Therefore, I also believe that a LH FTL will receive Silver status for 4 months and has to collect 6500 miles or 8 segments in order to renew it.

Note that after you receive this email you have to reply and tell them you want to get the status match under these terms, otherwise they won't give it to you!
