Anyone yet figure out how on earth they post miles to the "new cardholder"? Does the new cardholder need to have a Chase account? This is so confusing because if this were true, Chase would need the OnePass number of each cardholder for whom you are asking for additional cards and I don't know if anyone has been asked for this. Anyone sucessfully recieved the 2500 additional card bonus miles from the last offer? |
Things I learned this week!
I opened the account with no problem at the Chase Branch. A busy location, so the manager did the opening and needed a lesson on all the codes involved. A few pointers:
1) I didn't think I needed checks, but I want to auot $5 a month out of my ING account since I don't always have money in Paypal. For ING you have to have something other than a starter check that comes with the account, as you have to fax them a real check to add a new account. 2) Checks. The ones offered were $18. I did a search on discount checks and through Fatwallet found Carousel checks; less than $4 a box and you can order only 1 if you want. Shipping was cheap if you want to wait 3 weeks or pay $5 something for priority. 3) It takes a day for the online banking to become active on your Chase page. I have a Chase Credit Card so I had online access already, but even though my banking balance showed up, it came up with an error when the link was clicked, so I could not link it to Paypal that day, so I had to go the route of havong Paypal add the 2 deposits of a few cents each then confirm. 4) They really push the $65 credit card and try to play down the $25 ATM card. "Who would ever want that one" the manager asked. I said I do, as I paln to only use it for a $5 gas purchase and get the 10K miles. Lastly, they really ask alot of questions for followup service. How much is your house worth, mortgage, investments, other checking accounts and balances, and balance of credit cards. Geeze I just want a checking account, not a loan! All in all it took about 45 minutes as it was a busy day at the branch, and 20K is hopefully worth it. One final thing, they gave me referral forms if anyone wants one, I can mail or fax to you. $25 extra bonus for you and me if you open this account and take the referral form to the branch when opening. PM me if you wish, and when the next person gets the forms, post and it can be a conga as well. Thanks! JudyJFLA |

First of all, from what I understand, you would have to add the person on your account as a Joint-account person. Maybe there is a field on that page asking for their (the other person's) One Pass #?

I am certain that ING now allows online "linking" of checking accounts. As they did before, they will drop two ACH deposits in your new Chase account and then you have to tell them the amounts to confirm. I did the Chase promo and linked to ING on Monday night. Now the new link is pending and I do not have the opportunity to link another online. I assume this is because the new link is still unconfirmed (waiting for ACH deposit). You may want to check this. |
i have opened up a second checking account with this promotion about a week ago, haven set up direct deposit yet or made a purchase with the card yet, but i will post my status on getting the miles since i received the 17,500 last september

I signed up this morning. Thanks, all, for the info., and thanks JudyJFLA for the referral! It took half an hour all told, and they didn't try to upsell me to the $65 card or any other product. I already had a savings account there, so this might've shortened the time as they already had my info. in the computer.
The entire time the guy was setting it up (he seemingly had to enter stuff on about a million different screens), I overhearing a young lady having an argument with another Chase employee. Apparently a teller gave her the wrong information on when a check would clear, causing her to bounce some payment and get charged a late fee, which Chase wouldn't reimburse her for. Not good to hear while starting a new account, and if not for the miles I might've reconsidered. Now I just have to set up my direct deposit and cross my fingers that the miles post. Thanks again, JudyJFLA and FlyerTalk! |
I opened my second Chase account last week. Despite my being clear that I did NOT want checks, Chase mailed me checkas and charged me $18. When I called the 800# I was told I have to go to the branch to return the checks for a refund.
I also did a HELOC (which I needed anyway) and was promised 25,000 AAdvanatge miles. Process was fast and efficient. No fees as long as the account stays open 36 months. |
Just a warning - DO NOT use the coupon code at the beginning of this thread. I was told by Chase Customer Service that each account requires a unique coupon code which is generated when you click on this link. A coupon code can be used once and only once. Your coupon code is also used as a tracking number for the offer. If you're signing up with a friend or significant other, hit "refresh" and get a different coupon code. See my post in this thread for details of how I got burned on this.

Okay - I may be showing my ignorance here, but what is a HELOC?
|
Can I apply for this account online?
I live in Washington, DC and I cannot find any locations nearby. Chase.com allows you to apply for an account online including a space for a Coupon code. Can I apply online and get the bonuses?
In the alternative, next month I have a layover at EWR (Newark) and could take a taxi to a nearby Chase bank. |
HELOC = Home Equity Line Of Credit

When I opened in the branch, the manage found the promo on her computer screen, and didn't seem to really use the promo code, as there was something in her computer for AA miles as well. Of course we will have to wait several months to see if it posts correctly. In the meantime, if you have not been looking at the Delta Board, check out the up to 25K promo that is being discussed there for alot of easy activities.
