As craz has shown, YMMV on this part. The T&C state:
Also, to qualify for the first 10,000 bonus miles you must open a new checking account and initiate a repeating direct deposit such as payroll, Social Security or other government benefits. But who's to say that you aren't getting paid by PayPal? And it definitely waives all account fees, so it should count. The downside it will involve fighting for the miles... Now if anyone is opening or opened an acct after March when I did , I dont know if they changed any of the language being used. If should state that PP is NG then thats a horse of a different color. the problem is the 1st few months 2 I think Chase wont ding you for the fee, so until statement #3 you wont know if it will say as mine does that the Fee is waviered. If you use PP and got dinged for the fee , you can always go in and get it removed but then either need a real DD or 5 uses of the debit card per month. But thats only in order to avoid being Hot with the monthly fees, it wont help get you the CO or UA miles, which you probably wont get then. |
paypal as payroll
You do not need to initiate a repeating dd. One will do. However, if it is coming from paypal, chase will not give you credit for the miles, unless it really looks like you are getting paid through paypal as payroll. If it is going in at least twice a month and for amounts that look like a paycheck, not for $10 here and $10 there. At that point, you can ask an employee about it, but it will require them to still fight it for you. So, just a warning, you will pay for using paypal. It'll cost you the bonus in your time it takes to fight it. They took enough people ripping them off i'm sure by people sending $10 from paypal to get the bonus. Chase is smarter now.

Thats before I saw the sentence on my statement that arrived in the mail when I was at the Branch, that the Fee was waivered due to 5 debit charges or a DD. Chase wouldnt have had a leg to stand on in court in my case as any Judge would have been able to see I didnt have the 5 Debit charges and the only activity was the Inbound transfer from PP of $100 or less. So unless Chase recently redid all the T&Cs Once a month should suffice, as usual YMMV |

I just rechecked my 7/25 statement from Chase it shows 2 PP deposits for $xx & $xxx and 2 withdrawls to 2 CCs that were done from the CCs side and not that I sent the $$ from my Chase acct $xxx.xx total there was no other charges or fees deducted from my acct total. again I opened the acct at the end of March so that may be the reason they wont Ding me as the T&Cs might have been different then. Im not to worried as I only have 2 more periods to go to reach my 6th months with them B4 Closing up the acct I actually happen to like Citi and just might keep that once I pass my 9th month and have the 2 10ks in my AA acct. |
Chase 21k Offer
well I work there and I'm just giving you a heads up that they are tougher on it now. You should be able to get it if you put up a fight for it. But they also will fight it. How does this citi offer work? The one for the 2 10k points for AA?

If you have a CITIBANK account you can do transfers to other banks (ie Chase) FREE OF CHARGE. I have opened 3 Chase checking accounts( 2 last year and 1 this year in May) for both myself and my wife (so 6 accounts in total).
For each account I arranged a $10.50 DD each month (give or take a few cents). All miles posted to CO without any problems - No fees charged from Chase. |

Im sure it will be back at soem pt Citi is better and worse then Chase Better: either 1 DD per month or use pay Online to pay 2 bills every month, so pay $10 to 2 different Non-Citi CCs and your home free. Chase will send 17.5 within a month of fulfilling the requirements (Maybe) Worse: with Citi you need to keep the acct for at least 9 months and have teh DD or 2 Pays every month. Citi gives you 10k after the 1st month some time and the last 10k after teh 9th month |

I signed up on May 30th and have now received both the 7,500 for the Checking bonus and 2,500 for the Debit Card. Now I'm just waiting on the 10,000 debit card purchase bonus. The miles from my purchases are posting pretty quickly (within a week or two of the billing period ending) so hopefully the rest will post pretty soon.
Anyone else have the last 1,000 show up yet to get the full 21K?? Not sure if the other 1,000 will just show up on its own or if I will need to call. Here is the history in chronological order so far: 7/28/2008 Opened account (and initiated DD from my work) 8/25/2008 Chase Checking Enrollment Bonus 7,500 ** Note that I believe this was supposed to be for the Debit Card Bonus, but I listed how it came out on my statement 9/6/2008 Chase Debit Card Enrollment Bonus Miles 2,500 9/8/2008 Chase Checking Enrollment Bonus 10,000 |
I just received my last 10,000 miles for the debit card bonus on 9/2. I opened the account at the end of May under the original 20K offer with a ING direct deposit. I now have all received all 20,000 miles.

Since, Wamu is now JPMorgan Chase does that mean that those on the west coast(and FL) will get a chance to get in on this deal? :)
That is assuming the deal is still alive? |

That is assuming the deal is still alive? Alas, Wamu is not yet Chase, and it will be at least 6 mo to a year before WaMu is fully integrated and rebranded (the Wamu brand will disappear). So our best bet is to hope Chase extends this offer into 2009. There is reason for optimism because it has now run for 2 years. :) |

Q. When can I bank at Chase branches in my area? A. We'll be working hard to combine systems as quickly as possible so you can begin to enjoy expanded branch convenience in your area, and we expect system changes to begin late next year. We'll let you know in advance of any changes; in the meantime, simply continue to bank at WaMu branches as you do today Q. I have a Chase credit card, car loan, and mortgage. Can I make payments at a WaMu branch now? A. Not yet! We'll let you know when you can make Chase credit card, car loan, mortgage or other loan payments at WaMu branches, or vice versa. |
