There hope yet
a folow up to my post 3148
a day after everything took plaace, I got my 6/24 statement in the mail, thats the 2nd statement after the 60 day deadline to set up the DD (if you set it up after the 60 day period Chase isnt obligated to give you the Miles or $$ whichever you are after). My statement had printed on it something to this, since you had a Direct Deposit or had 5 debit withdrawls you arent being charged the monthly fee.Since I had only 1 debit withdrawl for $2 in gas when I 1st got the card it wasnt that. The only other activity I had was the monthly deposit from my Employers ;) direct deposit via PP. back to my branch who suggested I call the tel # for CS on the bill. Well did that explained everything, was told PP doesnt count towards DD. But she also saw I had but 1 use of the Chase Debit card, so then agreed that my PP deposit counted as a DD to off set any monthly charge. She called me back yseterday and told me that , I neednt go via Small Claims Court as Chase agreed that my PP was handled as a DD although it shouldnt hav ebeen and went ahead and sent the 17.5 over to Continental. just checked and yep the 17.5 is there as wellas the 2500 for using the now cancelled and refunded Chase CO debit card My suggestion is to wait and see if you are using PP if at least 2 statements after your 1st 60 days has on it no monthly fees. That would be your 3rd & 4th statemenst or 4th & 5th, depending when Chase sends you your 1st 1. My 1st one wa sent 1 week after I opened my acct, so it was my 4th & 5th statements that had printed on it where the DD (PP) or 5 uses of the debit card took care of my monthly fee I opened my acct at the end of March, could be anyone who opened/opens an acct from 4/1 wont be as lucky with PP being good for the DD. Just read the statements to see. |

It seems that the language (on the now 21k offer) prohibits PP, but again, one could always argue it is the way their employer pays them ;) I do believe, however, that PP does waive the monthly service fee, so just as craz noted don't use your card for the first 120 days and then argue that if it wasn't DD, why is it that you weren't charged? It is a pain, but then again 21 k miles... |
I signed up on May 30th and have now received both the 7,500 for the Checking bonus and 2,500 for the Debit Card. Now I'm just waiting on the 10,000 debit card purchase bonus. The miles from my purchases are posting pretty quickly (within a week or two of the billing period ending) so hopefully the rest will post pretty soon.

Did you use PayPal for your direct deposit? |
i got denied for my third attempt at opening a checking account, chase's computer said i was denied the promotion due to one promotion per calendar year, hopefully they will have another one on jan 1

FYI, just checked my July statement online, again no fees says due to having a Direct deposit or 5 Debit card times. Well my DC hasnt been activated so its not that, all I had was 2 PayPal deposits and 1 at a teller.
So anyone who still didnt get their Miles, check your statements to see if it says what mine does why no fees are being charged then call the service # on your statement and ask whats up This should hold true for anyone where Chase didnt have it written out that PP wont count as a DD |
My 20k miles have posted fine - opened the ac beginning of May and no charges so far. I haven't had 5 debit txs per statement cycle but set up a regular monthly payment from a BoA Deposit ac which started end May, seems to be accepting it as a valid credit...so far, so good!
My only problem has been with miles being posted for a recent purchase of a Co flight - my understanding is that double miles post with such purchases but only one amount has been credited - I've rung Chase but they say the issue is with Co and I just haven't gotten around to ringing Co yet. Question - am I also entitled to get miles if paying for an u/g with the Chase card? |
What is the minimum age to open a Chase checking account (excluding High school & college checking)?

Min amount of time the acct must remain open?
Does anyone know if theres a min amount of time (months) that the acct must remain open? Id like to close it out already got the Miles in my CO acct, but would hate to find out there was a min time it had to remain open and thusly lose the Miles, after what it took to finally get them.
Chase is too high on its fees, looking to open a Cap 1 free checking since their ATM withdrawls anywhere doesnt have any Fees attched to it on Cap 1s end. Thats anywhere from 2% and up savings when Overseas,3% for Chase the prob is I also recently opened a Citi acct for 20k AA miles. Too many accts and the Boys will think Im Laundering $$$ when its Miles that Im doing. |

Some banks have 90-day requirement. Most I see is 6 months. |

I recall it's either 6 months or 180 days. Chase indicates revoke of bonuses or early closure fees for "short-lived" accounts.

Chase 21k Offer
Chase does NOT accept paypal for ANY more checking offers or airline miles. Including CO miles. The DD needs to be $10.01 or higher. Paypal will however waive the monthly services fees. Just doesn't give you bonuses. It doesn't matter HOW many accounts you have there. It's just 1 bonus per calendar year. If you have tons of accounts and haven't done a bonus that year, you can still do it without closing any other accounts. I did the offer and got 27,500 Continental airline miles. Got 10k for the account with DD, 7500 for the debit card, adn another 10k for 4 debit cards with my name and mile number on them. total 27,500!! I've got them all down real good. Chase is great, there customer service is wonderful.

Also, to qualify for the first 10,000 bonus miles you must open a new checking account and initiate a repeating direct deposit such as payroll, Social Security or other government benefits. But who's to say that you aren't getting paid by PayPal? And it definitely waives all account fees, so it should count. The downside it will involve fighting for the miles... |
