I just hope that they aren't delaying the postings while they dream up a program "enhancement" that limits our ability to use the points (like LatinPass seemed to do while they killed the Marriott transfer option).

I suspect that GP may be holding up the posting of certain accounts to manage the timing of their expenditures.

Those FF miles cost them money. If they had a budget problem in 2001, I don't think it would be unusual for them to incur those expenses in 2002. So maybe they put a large batch of transactions in the queue for 2002, and are just trickling them out because of system capacity issues, etc.

How many miles do you need to get lifetime status on AA, UA and CO?

Thanks

These are the only ones I'm familiar with:

AA Lifetime Gold: 1,000,000 "program-to-date" miles from any source.
AA Lifetime Platinum: 2,000,000 "program-to-date" miles from any source.

UA Lifetime Premier Executive: 1,000,000 actual flight miles to date.

The flight miles have to be paid miles, right? (No credit for miles from flights entirely paid with mileage award certs.)

For those still waiting, I placed an order with Valuemags/Goldpoints for $800 on 12/26. The points had previously posted at 150/$. After sending in the requested fax to Goldpoints, and completely ignoring Valuemags request that I agree to a new return policy, the full 450 points/dollar posted today.

I am only guessing, but wouldn't you think that all of this would typically be done automatically and electronically? I just can't believe that there would typically be any manual input involved. So that leads me to believe that GP is intentionally holding up these postings.</font>
I have experience with LinkShare, the "middleman" used by GP and many of their online affiliated stores. It is all automated & electronic, but unfortunately LS is notorious for losing and delaying the reporting of online sales back to the site from which they were referred, GP in this case. They do send out monthly "reconciliation" files to their bigger referring sites, which pick up some of the lost data, and this may be part of the basis for the 30-day wait. Anything that doesn't show up in this data from LS probably needs to be manually investigated by the GP customer service department.

Does anyone know how long it takes for goldpoints to make use of the automated FF withdrawl? I've requested it a few weeks ago but the points just keep accumulating in my account... I heard 3-4 weeks. Is this true?

My experiences (2) are they happen during the same week. I recently had 20k GP points post, three days later they transferred out to AA.

Well. that may explain some things. Like why GP is so quick to manually change points where the wrong amount has been awarded, but makes you wait the 30 days where points are missing altogether. Call me skeptical, but it just seems too "convenient" that all of the big orders at the end of the year got hung up.

You should give them a call. When I called to set up the automatic transfer it took less than a week for it to kick in. The way it works (for AA at least) is that any time you have over 2k GPs in your account on a Sunday, it should take the points out of your account in 2k increments. The AA miles then post on the following Thursday (with some nice 500 mile bonuses at certain levels).

While it took a few phone calls (and more than the stated 30 days), thanks to GP, Valuemags and especially FT, I was able to book my C class LAX-CNS-MEL-SYD-LAX trip this week!!!

I found out some interesting info when I called GP. Apparently any account with more than 100k points was put on hold since Jan 2 for 30 days so you can't withdraw any points until Feb 2. 250,000 miles per week was the max they could post to the airlines. Anyone else hear this story from Goldpoints? Thanks.
