Does anyone recall what the offer code was on this promotion last summer? My son never received his points. We SM them but I bet they are going to come back asking for the code and I can't find it now.

My daughter did get her points, they were both the same code.

If you scroll back to the original post in this thread, and click [Quote] you will be able to read the full text for the offer URL, and embedded within it is "a" code. I cannot say if it is the one you need:

Hi can you transfer the 40,000 TY points to airline partners?

No. ThankYou Points earned through banking are taxable, and taxable points cannot be transferred or shared.

Considering the tax issue and that airline partner redemption is not possible with this offer, do you think maybe 30000 AA miles are better?
With 30000, you are really not far away from one-way travel world wide in economy.

I remember reading somewhere that TYP earned from this promo aren't taxable. I can't remember why, but it might be because the total value of the points is estimated at $400 (1c each). Doesn't a bonus have to be valued >$600 to get a 1099? I know the 30K AA miles are valued at 2c each, so that's estimated at $600.

1. Income is taxable even if not reported on a 1099.

2. Citi determines the value of ThankYou Points when they are redeemed, not when they are awarded. Citi does not permit the points to be Gifted or Transferred because they would then not be able to assign a value. If the points are redeemed for the maximum value ($0.016/point) the redemption can exceed the $600 threshold and a 1099 could be issued.
