Can anyone speak to the churnability of the BMO Air Miles World MasterCard?
My wife signed up for it mainly for the bonus miles + 25% discount on booking rewards, which on a family booking adds up to a substantial number of points. Now our winter holiday is out as my wife is due to give birth around New Year's. If she cancels the card this fall, what are the odds that she can cancel, sign up again and get the bonus? Or could I sign up and just use her AM number? (I currently have the BMO World Elite MC, but have never had the BMO AM card... other than this one card, I am not that familiar with BMO and its CC practices.) I'd be grateful to hear anyone's experiences with this... what I read could affect my strategy for accumulating Air Miles :) |

I think GCR gives $30 cashback now? unless you use a referral (500 AM referral bonus) You can each get one by referring each other, repeat-and-rinse |

I'd think it's churnable as long as there's no "no repeat welcome bonus" clause like the BMO World Elite ($300 bonus)

Although I do recall reading that the card was recently "enhanced" so as to make the 25% discount apply only to NA redemptions... obviously a huge hit to any hardcore AM collectors who were planning family trips overseas. |

Yeah, I've been alternating back and forth with the Amex Air Miles Plat/Gold for the last year or so.

15,000 Welcome Points Offer.
This offer may only be applicable to Canadian HSBC Advance and Premier customers but it is still a pretty good offer. You get a welcome bonus of 15,000 points when you get approved for the HSBC Advance MasterCard. There is no annual fee. You can convert these points to Avios, Krisflyer or Asia Miles at a 1:1 rate. Offer ends August 31, 2015. https://www.hsbc.ca/1/2/personal/ban...vance/mc-offer Eligibility for HSBC Advance MasterCard® card5: Exclusively available only for HSBC Advance customers. |

Thanks for the clarification. I deleted my post.

Do CIBC aero biz cards get delivered to the closest branch, home or a branch of your choosing?

But if you are not an existing CIBC client, or if they feel it within their fancy to make you go to a branch to pick it up (eg., perhaps to clarify/confirm some ID issues), then they'll call to let you know and you can then choose the branch that it would get sent to. I don't bank with CIBC, but I have two long-time no-fee CCs with them. A couple of years ago, when I applied for my very first Aerogold Infinite Visa card, CIBC insisted I go into a branch to pick it up. After that, and 6 or 7 new CIBC CC's strewn in my vapour trail, I have never had to go back into a branch to show my ugly mug to them. :p |

They are making us go to a branch and pick them up. Wife picked her up today. Already did 1st purchase on her card and waiting for the 20K now. :D They haven't called for my card yet but I am going to go check tomorrow to see if mine is there. Sometimes they get lazy and don't call you. 2 more Aeroplan cards to eventually add to my dead CC Collection. |
man this Amex turning non-business cards into once in a lifetime bonus news sucks :(

I just applied to see what would happen. That does suck, though. |

I'm still going to try to churn the BMO World Elite and get the bonus via the upgrade/downgrade game with the same account over the period of 2-3 years. I'm currently on a downgrade and will try to upgrade to that card next year and see if they have a record of it! I'll let everyone know if I was successful!!! :p

Applied for Gold rewards and got approved. Will wait to see if my wife gets the referral bonus and if I get my bonus.
On a side note, if bonuses are lifetime now, what's the next best way to accumulate points for a Singapore air F award ticket? |

It's a massively aspirational, and because of that, a massively disappointing experience. Set your sights lower and enjoy more. Just my two cents. |
How quick would the 40k Amex bonus for the business gold card post - not a big rush or anything, but would it be feasible to get them in time before the 1.25 MR to Avios ends on Sept. 30?
I'd probably be able to hit the 5k spend requirement by August 5. |

I'd probably be able to hit the 5k spend requirement by August 5. It was about a month for me, between 2 billing cycles Aug 5 to Sep 30, you should be okay make sure your Avios account is linked already by then |

RBC Avion posting time
Does anyone know how quickly RBC Rewards points post to the Avion card? Do the points accrue immediately at time of purchase, or monthly with statement?

Points are calculated and accrued at the time of your statement. BUT points show up on your RBC Avion account (and then are ready for transfer) the following day - but usually later in the day. For example, here's what happened with mine just yesterday: July 8, 2015 - Statement generated July 9, 2015 10am - Points not showing yet July 9, 2015 4pm - Point showing on account - transferred to Avios |
I don't know if this could be useful to anyone for their MS, but, one might want to look at tiomobilepay versus Plastiq when it comes to cost.
$2.99 for $350 (or 3.99 for 500) at tiopay versus 2.5% at plastiq. I do not know if they do accept CT, but, for roughly a cost of 0.35% it seems one could MS. (0.85% cost - 0.5% reward from CT and earn miles/points in the process). Anyway, just for the MSers out there... If this works, I have not checked (nor will). |
Tio doesn't take Amex (the $5000 on the amex business card is the most compelling reason for MS) and it's american, so the payees are american and unless you're using a chase card, you'll pay a 2.5% foreign exchange fee.
