BMO phone reps told me today that they're only offering the 15,000 point bonus. However, the 20,000 point bonus offer remains active on the BMO website.
• BMO's link for the 20,000 point deal has now gone dead. • CIBC's 15,000 point offers that were to end August 31 do in fact appear as expired. Hopefully there's new offers emerging in September. Please post anything new that you find. Cheers. |

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :D |

The only SKU I can find is this: $20 for $20 Fine Silver Coin - Iceberg and Whale (2013) Price is $20 each + no shipping. Maximum quantity: 3. Everything else (that I can find) sold out, is priced above face value, or has a shipping charge. http://www.mint.ca/store/dyn/MEDIA_P...58_rev-135.png |
BMO World Elite MasterCard: $300 bonus
Bank of Montreal World Elite MasterCard has amended their signup bonus to reflect their new points system.
Link to BMO website: http://www.bmo.com/home/personal/ban...ite-mastercard Get bonus points worth $300 in travel credit, and 2% on spend. Annual fee: $150. (History: The bonus amount had been $285 worth of credit, and then they bumped it up to $380 worth, and then they changed the point value, so the startup bonus was actually $400 if you clicked on the link for a period of about 2 weeks. Now it's $300, which is still pretty good.) |

Bank of Montreal has upped the reward redemption rate on the BMO Rewards World Elite MasterCard. The rate is now 2%, up from 1.9%.
The standard offer is 15,000 points, which at 1.9%, was worth $285. However, the 20,000 points bonus offer appears to still work. That'd be $400 in travel credit. Annual fee remains at $150. That's a $250 gain instantly. I think this is one of the best cards out there now. • Supplementary cards are now free. • Priority Pass access to VIP airport lounges (4 visits per year). • $70,000 income or $120,000 household income required. • More at http://bmorewards.com |

So when you signed up for the 'Golf' offer of 20,000 points did they double it when it was posted in your account? ie does your account now have 40,000 points instead of 20,000? AFAIK the point value never changed it was 1.9% until August 31 and now it is 1% but of course the card now earns 2 points per dollar instead of 1? I'm just curious as I posed this question to my BMO contact but have not heard back yet so perhaps you can answer faster than they do! (Also noticed my posts from yesterday have been deleted... :( )
The BMO phone rep told me that whatever points were in the account on August 31 would be doubled for September 1. That transaction worked fine on my account: My point total was 20,516 on August 31. On Sept 1, they gave me a credit adjustment for exactly 20,516 more points. My Points Balance is now 41,032 points. The old points were worth 1.9 cents. (20,516 x 1.9c = $389.80) The new points are worth 1 cent. (41,032 x 1.0c = $410.32) It's all good. |
@jerry305 Thanks for the answer, that is great to hear for those who did sign up for the card with the 20K link!

The 20,000 link was still available on the BMO website until August 31. So there will be some people who would've applied for the card in time, but too late to make their first spend (or even get their card) by August 31. For those people, it would be appropriate to call and verify that BMO awards 40,000 points. You accepted the offer for 20,000 old points, and that's the value you should get. If you're in that camp, I recommend you call to ensure that it's processed properly, because this might not be an automatic process. |
Some few more deals, Amex Gold is going for 25K Sign up bonus, Aeroplan Amex Gold is going for 20K sign up bonus, both first year free. If you get referred for Amex Aeroplan Gold, you get 30K instead of the 20K.

I have an Amex gold. To get the bonus on a second one, do I need to close the first one, and if so, how long should I wait to apply after closing? Also, if I have an Amex biz gold, close the Amex gold, will I lose the mr points associated with my personal card, or will I keep them because i have another mr card, the biz gold, active? Thx for your help!

I personally would cancel, and re-apply after 3 months (or 6 months) or alternate between Personal Gold and Biz Gold You need at least ONE AMEX MR card active to not lose your AMEX MR account, unless you want to transfer all out every time. Keep that in mind There's no rush really, I'm sure the 25K Welcome bonus is here to stay |
I am considering applying for Biz Gold so I can cancel my Personal Gold (and reapply 6-12 months later) but keep my MRs alive. What qualifies as a 'business'? I sell stuff on ebay, so I am wondering if that would be legit - or is there a minimum requirement for business spending/profits? Does the company have to be registered to pay taxes, have a minimum amount of employees, etc. to qualify? Also, is it okay to apply in your own name, or do you have to apply with a business name?

I just used the name of a pet project as my business. No, you don't need to show business registration. It's still a personal credit card account under the same person's name.

When I applied for the Biz Gold last year I listed my employers name, which happens to be the federal government. I was conditionally approved and called in to the CSR who asked me if I was the owner of the Department of XXXX. I said no, I wish, just a lowely public servant who wants to use the card to keep my work expenses separate from my personal cards. He didn't ask anymore questions and approved the application.
But like always, YMMV. |

Just so everyone is aware, the Amex Gold Biz application does ask for "Legal Business name (registered)" on the app. I applied and got a 'conditional' acceptance based on verifying the information I provided. Since I only provided my name, address, my personal income and business name, I suspect it's my business that they'll be attempting to verify. Anyone had this same response to their biz Gold app?

Alaska Airlines Credit Card upgrade
There is a letter going out from MBNA to specific customers to upgrade their Alaska Airlines CC to World Elite. This is a targeted mailing according the MBNA Customer Service that meet certain income limits.
It includes 10,000 Alaska Airlines miles and additional benefits to the card. There is no increase in annual fees. If you either have a combined income of $120,000 or a high single income, can't remember the figure, either call their Customer Service number or log onto the MBNA website, add your cc to your profile and click on rewards. If the World Elite banner does not drop down, you will need to call to determine if you qualify. I had one card approved but my second card wasn't until I spoke with the rep who updated my income information. My wife did not receive the upgrade until she spoke with them about our combined income. Good Luck |

Best Western MasterCard: $200 in gift cards
EDIT: This link expired in late November. Sorry.
Best Western Rewards MasterCard promo has returned! Sign up bonus: 50,000 points. Minimum spend: $1,000 by November 30. Best Western Rewards convert to gift cards at a good rate: 6500 points gets you $25 gift cards at commonly used locations, including gas and Walmart. Here's the sweet spot: If your total spend reaches just $1,334, you'll have earned a total of 52,000 points, which is enough to get $200 worth of gift cards. This is a very good promo for a card with no annual fee. More discussion at Canadian Kilometers blog MBNA website offer: https://www.applyonlinenow.com/CACCa...=CPYG&lc=en_CA |

Some people have suggested buying gift cards for future purchases to make a minimum spend. It's hard to plan these things, but I figure that It's safer to apply for the cards with the big minimum spends around Xmas time, as that is when I spend the most money. It worked last year with the BA Visa, so I think it should work again this year... |
One of my biggest AMEX purchases is for my home and auto insurance. If I can plan to apply for a big-spend card right around my renewal date, then I can pay a big chunk off with that one item. Or, if not, I'll switch my insurance payments back to pre-authorized monthly debits from my bank account, and then if a promo comes along requiring a big spend, I'll call into the insurance company to ask for the remaining balance on my annual insurance premiums to be paid off in one big lump sum.
Otherwise, yeah, XMAS time is a good time to plan around for these cards. |
CapitalOne World Mastercard IHG Priority Club
Hi folks, thought this was the best forum to post in. I am a Canadian who has a CapitalOne World Mastercard IHG Priority Club. Need to know if I stay at IHG properties around the world; and I use the card - do I qualify for the various points (5X at IHG properties) bonuses that I would if I stayed at an IHG property in Canada.
Any insight would be helpful thanks. |
