But be careful because when I checked on Westjet's site I found this:
"Seasonal service to and from Dublin, Ireland (DUB) starts Jun 15, 2015 and ens Oct 5, 2014" also it goes back in time. LOL! |

Get 150 Aeroplan miles with first purchase at UPS Store. Also, you get 500 additional miles if you earn the miles with a Get More! small business card. You just need to declare a small business to get the card. So, you can get 650 Aeroplan miles for the first purchase.

No, there's no fee for either. The Get More card is a simple frequent-buyer card. Be sure that the UPS Store clerk records your 9-digit number into their system, for you to be able to get credit. |
Data point
Sadly, last time I tried to ship International letter to Asia, UPS with Get More card (10% off) is still $10 more expensive ($70) than Puroletter international ($60) |
Does this count for this thread?
Buying GC's at Esso with the Supreme Grade 5X promo using an Amex gold card? Turned $60 in gas and $200 GC into 630 Aeroplan miles. Got 520 Amex MR points too. Looks like it's 5X on all gas as of today (with 3 fillups) |

If anyone has the MBNA Best Western Card how and where do the points show up? I've set up the card on the MBNA site, have 1K spent. No do I have to wait until the next statement for the miles to show? Then what? I just don't see anything on my MBNA account page. It's also going to be tight to get the bonus miles for transferring to AP. 2K extra miles.

Bonus promo on now if you're buying IHG points: 50% bonus. You can buy 4,000 points, and get 2,000 free to make 6,000 points, for US $54. If you don't have an IHG account, this is enough to get you started.

wouldn't cash andp oints for 0.7 cents be cheaper?
But I believe one needs to have 5,000 points in the account, to be able to make a Points & Cash reservation in the first place, that would allow you to do the workaround. So buying points straight up from IHG, using this bonus, is for anyone who is starting with 0 points, or not many points. |

Great offer very tempting..... Off topic. How often do you all apply for cards? How many active cards do you have? I have never churned cards regularly and worried that I may impact my credit negatively. I have good payment record, low utilization of credit and stable income. |

I have good payment record, low utilization of credit and stable income. I've never been rejected for a card because I have too many cards on my credit report. I have been rejected because I already had that card, or because I already had 3 or 4 cards with the same issuer. So, for me, any card that has a good signup bonus, and is from an issuer that I haven't got a card with right now, is worth considering. Keep a spotless payment record, and accurate income information. Good luck! |

I have good payment record, low utilization of credit and stable income. I can't say that I've encountered any adverse effects as a result of all this... then again, other than mortgages on home and business properties I don't really use credit that much... in my entire life I think I carried a CC balance over to the next month maybe twice, and even those were on a Capital One low-interest card that is no longer offered. To me, CCs are strictly a vehicle for acquiring points for leisure travel and are treated as such. Every statement gets paid in full. |

I've definitely ramped it up over the past couple of years... basically been taking any and all 1st year free CCs with Aeroplan or Amex points attached to them, as well as the Marriott Rewards card (which came with EXCELLENT benefits, at least pre-devaluation). Right now I'd say I have about a dozen open CC accounts, maybe 3 of which I use regularly. My wife has bit less than that.

So can you get the card on the spot at UPS and use it right away for a purchase, or do you have to apply and then wait for a card to get sent to you first?
Apply online at http://www.getmoresavemore.ca/ You'll get an instant email with a little card you can print out with your 9-digit Get More number. Heads up: be sure that the clerk actually enters your number into the system (as well as giving you the 10% or whatever discount). FAQ from http://theupsstore.ca/small-business...ked-questions/ |

http://theupsstore.ca/small-business-solutions/get-more You'll get an email with your BMGM number right away...write it down (card gets delivered in about 4-6 weeks, or longer!). If you're doing this for multiple accounts, use Google Chrome's Incognito mode, so that it doesn't cache your BMGM info, preventing you from signing up for a 2nd BMGM account. Or, clear your cookies/cache or use a different browser. Bring the new BMGM number with you to the UPS store, along with your Aero number. Look for things that are at least $1 (minimum). I have bought things such as envelops, Exacto Knives, glue sticks, pens, etc....but each store has different stock and different prices. You'll have to see what's available at your UPS store. I have used this promo for all 7 of the accounts that I have to maintain for my family, 651 points each time. The UPS clerk will log into their system, punch in the BMGM number, your first/last name, and then ask for your Aero number (so, I guess the names must match??). They will tell you RIGHT on the spot that you got 150 + 500 points. I just did two of these yesterday morning, at 10am. When I checked my AP.com accounts, at 10:30am, they points were ALREADY posted online...super fast postings! BTW, you can't churn this with multiple BMGM accounts on the same Aero account. :D |

Thanks for the tips, JJonahJ!
I set up an account and then an hour later I popped into the local UPS Store over lunch to buy a few supplies... but when I gave them the BMGM number to enter (as received in the e-mail), they said it came up as not a valid number? I wonder if it was just too soon? Maybe I'll try again tomorrow... |

Maybe I'll try again tomorrow... Just create another BMGM account under your name again (see my note above about cookies/different browser)...take both of them to the store tomorrow, and try again. If it doesn't register, then something is wrong, and I would cancel the purchase until the UPS clerk can verify that you will get the points. |
Used my BMGM account a few days after I registered it as well. Just brought up the email on my phone and read the number off to the clerk.
I also made sure that the full 650 bonus was added. The guy was shocked when he saw that I was getting 651 points for a $1.34 purchase. #1 padded envelop FTW! |
For me, with 7 AP accounts to tend to, I went to the UPS store on 5 different trips, different locations. Each store I went to had different stock and different prices for the exact same items as displayed in other stores. Eventually, I got tired of looking for things that were just over a $1. So, one time I just grabbed a 75c eraser and asked the clerk to ring it up as $1+. No problem-oh. :D

applying as non permanent resident
Has anyone without permanent resident status applied and was approved for any card that says the application is only for permanent residents of Canada? I have enough income and few years of history in Canada but on work permit. I am going to be applying for permanent residency soon, but I am wondering whether the card issuers actually check the immigration status in practice.
The only thing I can think of is even if I don't put SIN# on application, they maybe able to pull it up and see that it starts from 9. (which I believe proves that I am not a permanent resident) I am particularly interested in applying for the BMO World Mastercard. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you! |

... I am particularly interested in applying for the BMO World Mastercard. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you! I am a Canadian resident on a work permit. My SIN starts with 9, and I am not considered a permanent resident. Acquiring Canadian credit cards under these circumstances varies bank by bank. My primary banking relationship is with TD. With TD, I could initially acquire any of their cards (standard or premium) but only as a secured card. After a year of holding a TD secured card, I was able to acquire AMEX Canada and Chase Canada cards on my own credit merit without requiring a secure line of credit. It's worth noting that AMEX Canada may be willing to issue a Canadian card based on US credit history if you have an existing relationship with AMEX USA (see: Global Transfer). I have also attempted to acquire a CIBC card with no success. Their terms state that only permanent residents are eligible. They did say that non-permanent residents may be eligible for their cards with a secured line of credit, but the premium card for which I applied was not available as a secured card. |
