I think people living in Saskatchewan get the raw deal with Aeroplan.

I was hoping with the help of others to start an updated credit card comparison like BlondeBomber did in '04. I don't know how to make an external link like she did so if someone could help me there. I know the margins are off and is difficult to read without an excel spread sheet. I had it in a word document but the margins got shifted over when I posted it and I tried to adjust it the best I could. I did spend a lot of time on this so I hope no one explodes when they have trouble reading it. I did it with good intentions. Here are the 4 credit cards that I carry. That's A LOT in annual fees...

A quick question about canadian credit cards. If say I get a marriot canadian card from chase, can I still get the US version?

As long as you qualify (i.e., have a Social Security number and US address), you should be fine. Chase US and Chase Canada are pretty separate entities.

Is it actually legitimate for me to apply for canadian credit cards? I am a canadian citizen but now I work and live in the US. I still have a few canadian credit cards from when I lived in canada but haven't applied new ones since I moved.

It sounds like you already have a Canadian credit file, but you'll need a valid Canadian address. I'm not sure if the application requires you to be a resident.

I routinely apply for CAD cards with my parents' address...seems to have worked so far...although I do not know how "legit" that is..

The RBC westjet card I keep for the $99 companion fare.

The CIBC aeroplan was 1st year free. I don't normally carry this card.

The TD first class I get the annual fee waived as I have an "all-inclusive" banking package

The plantinum Amex has benefits that make the fee worth it (for me anyways).

That's totally reasonable. I will pay for an annual fee if I feel I am getting the money back in incentives (Chase Marriott Visa and Cap One Aspire MC are two that give annual incentives that I think are worth the fees - esp. since I LOVE both of those cards!).

Just thought that I would add to this discussion. I am currently a CIBC Infinite AeroPlan holder who is being transferred(SOLD) to TD. I am a full banking customer with TD and when the dust settles, I will hopefully receive the new TD Infinite Aeroplan card from TD FREE!
TD had never been that accommodating in the past, so let's hope this happens.
