Did anybody succeed with this? The reason I'm asking is that during the 3 months where you'll have the United gold status, they don't send out the physical card. In order to match to Turkish, the only thing you have to show is a screenshot from united.com stating that you're Gold. Is that enough?

You are right that United don't send a card after receiving a match, but i called up the call center and asked them to send me a card "as i had still not received it", to which the guy said "no problem, i will send you out a card", then he asked me if i received the kit for the gold members so i said no, so he said he will send me that as well.
It works because the people in the call center can issue a card but they cannot see that the gold was received with a match, and they probably don't even know that matches don't get a card and the kit.

When i first called up to ask for united card to be sent, the agent (who didn't know i received gold because of a match, so thought a card had already been sent) said "it could take 6-8 weeks to arrive" , but i called back again (because i knew no card would arrive) and spoke to a different agent who sent me a card + kit. So don't be put off - just call back again.

Any idea how long it takes for Gulf air to get back to you regarding match? Been a week for me, no reply.

I received reply confirming status match 9 days after sending request, so it seems within the next few days it should be confirmed for you.

Regarding why I possibly regret the move? United gold status didn't get activated for my first 2 flights, and they are trying to figure out how to deal with it.. And cattle class feels worse then Delta for some reason. I'm going to give it a go for the next few weeks I think, but if it doesn't get better I maybe go for Virgin or something...

I was more interested in the KLM Gold status match you got? Usually they don't do matches unless there's a campaign. More info?

If you read mlqsko's post (#972) carefully, it says he already had KLM Gold with which he managed to get gold from United - not that he received gold from KLM as a match.

I got approved for KLM Gold match to United Gold challenge.

I did read it carefully and still understand it as he got the KLM Gold with match to United.

Very keen on SkyTeam match, as I am having more business on KLM&AF strong routes and struggling to find good OW/* alternatives where I am OWE and *G.

Any historical data how they KLM/AF run those "match campaigns" and if they are regional?

Try AR. They matched my OWE (AA EXP) to Plat last year.

Sorry for the confusion, I am a flying blue gold member and due to relocating to SF I have asked United to match me.. Which they did. Can't help you in getting status on KLM unfortunately.
