No. Gold status gives access to Etihad lounge at CDG when flying economy. I had a few glass of champagne there in november before flying to AUH. :)

Understand, but if you only fly F or (god forbid) J, you get access without status anyway. ;)

You are right ... but most people do not fly F or J all the time ...

I used to think Gulf air gold is the most useless card for me....till AB matched it to gold.....:)

Help getting OneWorld Status

So, my situation had changed from what I mentioned previously as I just booked an AA flight (MIA-SCL) for X'mas this year for my family of 3. I am more care about Baggage Allowance as I seems to have difficulty packing my bags below 50lb :p, hence looking for Sapphire status (I think)

So, to ensure I do understanding exactly what I need to do, I thought I will summaries what I am suppose to do to get confirmation from the experts here.

Current Status
- Wife TK*G expire July 31, 2015 (this year)

March, 2015
- Sign-Up Gulf Air membership for my wife
- Sent Status Match Request to ffp at gulfair dot com for my wife using her TK*G status

Mid Nov 2015
- Sign-Up Air Berlin membership for both my wife
- Sent Status Match Request to service at topbonus dot de for my wife using her Gulf Air Status

BTW, Since I do travel for work, can I do status challenge with AA. I kind of recall reading somewhere that you get Gold status during the challenge. But not sure if Gold status give me the extra weight that I am looking for. I do have TK*G that expire in 2017 and I am also AC*G (my main program).

The bag is more important to me as I already have access to the lounge with PP.

Kudos to AB, they really represent German efficiency at its best -at least when it comes to status matching. I sent them an email this morning, requesting the match of my Gulf Air Gold status and I got matched within the hour to AB Gold/OWS. Amazing! ^

If only LH (or any other *A carrier) would do the same...

And they are supposedly "low cost" too ;)
