I don't see why not. On the website here , it just says "an airline not part of the skyteam alliance".

Alitalia matched my AA EXP One World Emerald to ST Elite Plus to 3/31/16. Took about 10 days.
No notice, just logged into my MilleMiglia account and my new card and status were displayed.

10 days and counting on TK.
They did send a note 3 days ago asking for my card and statement, even though I had included both in the original request.

Do you currently have status in some airline FF program? If not, is there a business reason that some *A carrier would what to give you comped status? A status match means that the airline is giving your its status to approximately equal the status that you have already earned on a different airline. They should do this only if on average it is profitable to do so, given the information about you that can be verified.

United will match your status while you're working on your challenge, so it's a pretty good deal if you're really going to continue flying with them. If you're not, you're really looking for a gift rather than a match.

What do expect the benefit to you will be with status flying on United & Air China?
You tend to get the most benefit from the airline that you have status.
An increasing number of people of FT seem to ignoring the frequent & loyalty aspects of frequent flyer loyalty programs.

I think that the airlines are ignoring the frequent and loyalty aspects more and more :) for the customers it is allways more attractive to get more faster 👍😂😂

What is the thinking behind this? Thousands of loyal customers spends many thousands of dollars each year on the same airline yet they all invite people to come in and get the same benefits with a wave of the hand? Seems kind of a slap in the face of their loyal Frequent Flyers/Status holders who actually earned the benefits.

They are luring customers from other airlines to try them. Why a match and not a challenge who knows, but many airlines slap loyal customers in the face 😂😂 AA is talented at this😂 BA too though not with matches :)

As for this match I am sure many will test out AZ as a result! Thoughmany will just use it for ST lounges 👎

Question:

As an AA EXP I requested a status match on United, thinking they will match me to Premier Platinum with the 18K / 90 days requirement based on the chart they provided. However, they matched me to 1K for the 35k / 90 days requirement. It is highly unlikely I can do 35K in 90 days.

1) If I only fly, say 20K in 90 days, will they drop me to general member completely, or will they give me Platinum instead since I only made that threshold.

2) If they'll drop me, is it possible to contact them to drop me to a lower challenge?
